You’re part of the 99.5%. Stop being a high school girl and choosing our representatives from a social popularity contest. Jesus.

Nikki was the only one who mentioned the reading levels by third grade being the determining longterm factor.

And we’ve allowed curricula proven not to address this issue to rule our schools for decades now.

I don't think Vivek is killing it, but let's not act like DeSantis is just completely separating himself from everybody else. He hasn't tonight. And that's disappointing

If you thought one person was going to dominate tonight in this cluster of an arrangement by fox... that's on you.

A few separated themselves by being god awful bad. That's what tonight did

And just how does he plan to do that?

Of course they didn't ask.

Who can get elected is as important as the policies they bring. You can have the most principled political junkie in America, but if they can’t appeal to the right people, it doesn’t matter

Suburban white women are some of the most jealous and conniving people on the planet. You thought Susie getting a new Beamer for Christmas made the girls jealous? Wait until they find out Nikki’s family had a successful business and put her through private school. Such privilege!

It’s straight up ignorance to think that disarming Ukraine would get Putin to leave them alone. But that’s Vivek. Weakness is weakness and those that exploit it know it. He’ll get his arse handed to him in foreign policy if he ever found himself in charge. Way worse than Obama did and that was disastrous enough.

More so like when he wished cancer upon trump. He’s giddy to get rid of him, but he never will.

It was bad. Was that his idea of a dramatic pause. It was so awkward that Brett Baer had to prompt him a second time to speak.

Christie had a lot of nerve to wrap himself in the Constitution when he was the one that recommended Christopher Wray to Trump for the head of the FBI. Him and the FBI have done nothing but wipe their arse with the Constitution.

Some of his comments (ref. to China) did "strike a cord" with me. Not impressed with anyone in particular, even Vivek who initially intrigued me. Not one stands out as the leader to head off the coming storm brewing resulting in our loss of liberties.

If the goal of a debate is to look presidential, then who on stage looked the most presidential?

Trump got an individual sit down interview with a very well known journalist. He certainly checked the box of looking presidential.

I thought DeSantis would separate himself from the rest of the field. I agree FOX needs to do better. I dont remember it being that bad in 2016

So, I did not watch the debate on purpose because I did not want to bias my reading of what pundits are saying. My take, all the GOP candidates looked like bought and paid for pundits of the political class except for Ramaswamy. Pence, Christie, and Hailey seems to be the absolute worse. The best way to stop a Pence candidacy is to allow CNN to slobber all over him. Ramaswamy is the only anti-war candidate on the stage and all the other just seem to want to feed the war machine. All the candidates were attacking Ramaswamy using the same attacks they used on Trump in 2015. Apparently the attacks did not land with the conservative base of the viewers think better of Ramaswamy. DeSantis stepped back and let others attack (good move on his part) but Ramaswamy won the night.

Trump was the only one who could've won 2016

Pretty much any other Republican would've won and the majority of them would've done better than Trump. Quite a few would've won the Popular Vote, too.

2016 was a red wave year. GOP won the Popular Vote in the U.S. House and Governors races. The California Senate race didn't have a Republican candidate (2 Dems), and if you remove California, GOP won the popular vote in the Senate. The GOP had control of more State Legislatures than they've had in a while.

And yet, Trump lost the Popular Vote by nearly 3 million and over 2%, and needed Jill Stein's help to barely squeak by in the Electoral College. Without Stein playing spoiler, Trump would've lost Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania and thus the Electoral College. Trump was the weak link on the GOP side and underperformed down-ballot Republicans in nearly every suburban county. He needed Rubio, McCain, Ron Johnson, and Pat Toomey to pull him across the finish line since they all greatly outperformed him in the suburbs in their states.

Kasich and Rubio crushed Hillary in head-to-head polls, by 7 and 4 points on average, respectively. Cruz would've defeated Hillary. Rand Paul would've defeated Hillary.

You're underestimating the number of suburban voters, particularly women, who vote Republican or are open to voting Republican. If you look at 2016 and 2020, Trump underperformed other Republicans in nearly every suburban county. In both elections there were between 5.5-6 million people who voted for at least 1 down-ballot Republican but not Trump. That level of ticket-splitting hasn't occurred since 1996, and that was only because Dole had to contend with a spoiler in Ross Perot. Perot's supporters voted Republican down the rest of their ballots.

The problem is these suburban voters hate Trump. But if you put pretty much any other Republican on the ballot they'd do better in suburban counties. There are even suburban counties that Trump received fewer total votes than McCain and Romney did, even though Trump's 2 opponents were weaker than Obama and more votes were cast in 2016 and 2020 than in 2008 and 2012.
