Looks like the old destroy disperse rebrand tactic is alive and well.

Look at all those conservative states having population booms. Bet the people moving there for a better life won’t change they way they vote though.

Surprised to see Louisiana so low. Also surprised to see Alaska, but I do understand it with jobs leaving the State.

I've been reading some stuff on this. Washington looks like a wash. But a lot of people have moved out (Seattle crap) but a lot of Calif people are moving in.
Lower taxes than Cal without being too far from family.

Hawaii is getting hit hard by homeless population making it look nothing like 'paradise.' Their economy relies on tourism and that's way down.

Louisiana just passed a doubling of welfare payouts. That should attract some people.

Louisiana? No apparent population boom, yet. More like a population implosion.

I think people left Louisiana because of hurricanes and Brandons energy O & G war?

I live almost 3 hours south of ATL in a rural area. Nobody moves in here without a connection, nobody. In the past year, I know of two couples from Mass & Cal , that bought nice houses and acreage here, with absolutely no ties to the area. This might not seem like a big deal to people from populated areas, but it is virtually unheard of here.

My daughter in NC was talking to her friend. Her friend complained that she didn't want all of those damn Yankee's moving in and changing things. My daughter said, "Carole, you're from New Jersey."

Some do learn their lesson and are even more keen to preserve what they have because they know exactly what they left and why.

Technically California has/had more Republicans than any other state. If the vast majority of them leaving are Republicans, I don’t see why.

My buddy who is a county manager in a metro ATL county attributed the county’s shift towards Dem to California transplants. Could be something else like demographic shifts from the city, but he’s the subject matter expert, not me.

If you start at Iowa and work your way up it takes midway through Tennessee to get the number of people who have left either California or New York. I mean, holy shite, it’s bigger than I thought.

Why? All of Louisiana’s economic drivers were throttled by Covid, and we have an authoritarian Democrat governor. Louisiana has been shedding its educated population for decades now. Houston is pretty much just Louisiana ex-pats and immigrants.
