2012 GOP Report
Posted on 12/12/19 at 9:13 am

As a conservative that is concerned about the trajectory of our party, I am hopeful that the party re-discovers the 2012 report on how the party can position itself to obtain and maintain a strong position.
In the report the GOP discussed the need for immigration reform, broadening the base and focusing on the future demographic changes in the country.
I do not feel that the party is following that script. Are you concerned about future stability of the party? I am concerned.

That script is the same script republicans have lost on for years.
You cant out "free stuff" the democrats.
You can't out identity politics the democrats

Trump didn’t follow the script at all and won the most electoral votes for a Republican since 1988

Ambiguous concerned troll is ambiguous and concerned.

Are you talking about the party that owns the White House, the Senate and the Supreme Court? Yeah, I am concerned.

You expand the base by winning the argument.
Emphasize that freedom and opportunity TRUMPS government servitude and victimhood.

Pretty sure the 2012 report basically said in order to “obtain and maintain a strong position” the GOP should essentially adopt the Democratic platform.
quote:In other words, admit defeat on one of the highest priority issues for their core constituency. In what way is that “conservative”?

Trump is going to be re-elected and we will most likely re-take the House while keeping control of the Senate. Ginsburg doesn't have 4 years left in her so it's highly likely Trump will get yet ANOTHER pick for SCOTUS, thus making the Court far more Conservative/Originalist leaning than it has been in a loooooooooong time.
The key going forward is not to change our stance to appeal to the masses, it's to put forth better arguments for why our stances are correct and that of liberals is wrong in order to change the minds of the masses.

Yeah let’s use a 2012 GOP report that couldn’t rally people together to defeat Obama. Trump has changed the game for Republicans and has given conservatives in this country and second chance. It seemed like all hope was lost for our party until Trump came in and went right after the people who are screwing this country up. Trump used his own report and tactics that involve putting America and its people first. That’s why he’s going to win the next election.

The only thing that concerns me about the Republican Party are those that don't support or speak out against their Republican president...

This is so important I am afraid is being ignored. The leadership still thinks it's the party of Reagan. It has to change or die.

the 2012 GOP report is the reason the GOPe was pushing JEB as their candidate as they thought he would get the latino votes the 2012 report said the GOP needed to ever win another election....
Trump proved the GOP can win by appealing to blue collar workers, and taking back the rust belt.

No. It really is the economy. A firecracker hot economy discriminates against no race or ethnicity.
Bookmark it. There will be record minority support for the Bad Orange Man in 2020.

I think the thread implies following a strategy past 2020. Republicans have to continue to sell ideas past the time of Trump when the illegals start voting en mass in this country.

Yep, lets assume all is good and bury our head in the sand while the demographics of the country shift.....good strategy Cotton!
