Fairhope Alabama is about as Martha's Vinyard as Madisonville Louisiana, which is to say it's not. In fact, Madisonville though is better than Fairhope because Louisianians of all stripes generally know they're trashy around the edges. Fairhopers though try to deny it.

Fairhope has the Grand Hotel and that's about it. It's an upper middle class suburb of Mobile. It's not a vacation destination. Maybe you "stop by" or whatever on your way to the coast.
In Southeast Louisiana, it's equivalent would be Madisonville, but Madisonville isn't filled with pretentious assholes. No one who lives in the state of Alabama should ever have a pretentious bone in their body. Fairhope is filthy with people like this.

They will all be Haitian soon enough. Seems the Mexicans, etc. are sent to cities and the Haitians being dumped in small towns. That’s how small towns will be ruined and become like cities. They aren’t wasting time.

I'd say it's closer to being Mandeville than Madisonville, as Madisonville is really quite tiny.
It's not that bad with pretension either. Come on.
It's certainly more comparable to being say Ocean Springs, MS than it is Martha's Vineyard.

They tried to bring in 1000 Haitians to a town, Calhan, thats about 30 minutes east of Colorado Springs. The town got together and voted to GTFO. They are not coming now as the people in that town voted overwhelmingly to keep them out. The town population is maybe 2k. That would fundamentally change everything about the town if the population suddenly became almost half Haitian. We can't vote these Fk's out of office quick enough.

I remember the first time I drove through Fairhope as a teenager. Everyone who was outside stopped what they were doing (or not doing) to give a big wave. Maybe things have change and they’re just snooty now.

Ok, thanks. I’ve heard folks speak of it, and of a huge craft fair there, and that it’s a spot to go. Heard good things about it. Unfortunate it’s going to change.
