Where is the best place to find out your credit score?

I'm wondering where the best place is to find your credit score. You see all these commercials about finding it, just want to know which one will give you the most accurate.

Go directly to Experian, Transunion and Equifax.

Thanks. Two of them have the $1 free trial. Any reason to do all three? I'm pretty new to this.

You can request a free one from each of the 3 once a year. I lot of people pull one every 4 months to kinda monitor year round.

I only see where you have to pay for the $1 free trial. How do you get the free one or do they offer you this trial once a year?

Go to Credit Karma. Create an account. The score(s0 you will get a generally Trans Union scores, but the other two bureaus should be close.

Is credit karma as accurate as the rest? I think I may have found out how to get the other three for free, it said you must go to annualcreditreport.com. Sound right?
Also, how good must your credit be to qualify for 0% financing on your first car loan? I'm not shopping for one now, just trying to get an idea if I'll be eligible for it.

The 3 free a year is referring to your credit report not your credit score, when looking for your credit score you want your FICO score which you will probably have to pay for it but make sure it is a FICO score, all the others are really worthless

My discover it card gives me a score every month that is pretty on target. Nice card for me and I know they were running a intro offer awhile back

The annual credit report will give you the report not the score. You have to pay extra for the credit score unless you go to credit karma. But credit karma isn't completely accurate but it should be close

I use Myfico to get my scores. I think you can buy two bureaus from them. Not too bad and I usually do it before applying for credit.
As for the 0% qualification, most manufacturers list te eligibility by Tiers. Generally, it's over 700. Maybe as low as 680. However, some will have restrictions if this is your first auto loan.

So do I. You can get all 3 but there's a cost. But, it's accurate.

I find credit karma to be very inaccurate. By a long shot.

Ya it has its quirks. Especially if an account closes that had a negative remark. It will think you no longer have that mark when you do.
After Credit Karma, there is Credit Sesame, and Quizzle. All try to mirror each of the individual bureaus.
Discover It and Barclay World Arrival give free periodic credit scores

I have both and the Discover gives you it each month. The Barclays gives you it each month ALONG with notifying you of any changes

The scores you get directly from the bureaus aren't FICO scores. I know how shitty that sounds but it's just another way for them to make money. This is from the Equifax site:
quote:
The Equifax Credit Score is intended for your own educational use. It is also commercially available to lenders along with numerous other credit scores and models in the marketplace. Please keep in mind lenders are likely to use a different score when evaluating your creditworthiness.
If you want your accurate scores, go to MyFico as some have already mentioned. You will have to pay but if you're trying to apply for credit, it's likely worth it. CreditKarma may or may not be close to your actual score due to it being a different scoring model than FICO. Mine is usually WAY off from my actual FICO score but I've read where some people say their's is actually pretty close. There's a reason people refer to scores other than FICO scores as "fakos."

Myfico hands down. It will cost you money but is the most accurate.
Credit karma is a great resource to keep up with the accuracy of your credit report, but it will give you a score that is often not close to the score that lenders use. Sometimes it is, but you cannot count on CK for score accuracy. However it is a great free resource to keep up with 1 bureau.
You also need to go to annualcreditreport to get your free reports (no scores) yearly. You can get all 3 reports free once per year. Stats show that approx 2/3 of credit reports contain inaccuracies so you need to check all 3 reports yearly.
