Anybody see this?

I have a roommate and he and a friend SWEAR that it's true.

Does anyone else believe in this bullshite fabrication?

My mind is blown that they are 100% convinced this is real. They even recorded 3 hours worth of shite on our DVR. (that pisses me off)

It's complete and utter bullshite. And your roommate and his buddy are dumbasses.

It's a well done hoax. They've admitted it multiple times. The even have the actors names in the credits.

Glad I'm not the only one. Out of all the footage one video seeme maybe a possibility everything else looked CG. Pretty crappy. One neat thing they showed was fisherman from around the world who caught fish in nets that had spears in them, which I thought was cool.

Why would they waste the time/money to make not only one of these things but two of them?

Although I will admit there will always be a part of me hoping one of these things is real one day and these guys really do give a big middle finger to whoever is covering it up.

Of all the mythical creatures I hope are real, mermaids are very low on the list.

They aren't wasting money or time. I'd venture a guess that they made plenty of money off of these precisely because there are way too many people in the world with identical thought processes to these two guys (for the record, my sister and her husband are two of them - despite my consistent attempts to factually prove her wrong, to no avail).

I knew that shite was crap before I ever turned it on. If they actually had a cell phone video like that the scientific world would either go nuts or they would hide it from the public.

The show is fiction, but presented in a way that could be supported re: natural selection if indeed fossils were recovered. We have already discovered ancient off-shoots of hominids (A. robustus) even Homo sapiens (H s neanderthalensis) that did not evolve into us, and just died out.

The idea of one of these sub-species developing fully functional gills with functioning lungs is a real stretch, as it would seem to be reverse evolution to gills...but not lungs, too. Maybe could hold or even store O2 for long periods would be more realistic. The sonar skull chamber was a more likely trait than gills with lungs, too.

If this mutation ever occurred, it would've been highly unlikely the trait would be inherited at all, even if the mutated individual could reproduce with hominids. We came from gills and developed lungs much later...why would we ever go back to them? The basis in the show was it was due to food shortage on land, which sounds a lot like LaMark and the giraffe neck to me-bogus.

If mermen ever existed, we will prolly never know. Chances of recovering fossils from ocean depths not likely. Ever.

Just started watching Mermaids: New Evidence. If we can't trust Animal Planet or the Discovery or History Channel what can we trust?

Back on the old Gunsmoke series, Festus the Deputy wouldn't eat a fish unless the head was left on. He didn't want to accidentally eat a mermaid.
