Official M/TV Board-Top 10 TV shows of 2012(FINAL DAY for VOTING)
Posted on 12/18/12 at 12:18 pm
Posted on 12/18/12 at 12:18 pm
Rules:
1. show must have aired in 2012
2. No ties at any number
3. First place votes count for 10 points, Second place-nine,etc.
4. Comedies and Dramas only-no talk shows, reality TV or mini-series.
5. Must fill out at least five shows to qualify
6.Votes must be based on current season or season that aired this year. for example nothing based on season 4 of Breaking Bad.
7. A quick blurb on why you voted for what is encouraged but not required.
Voting extended to Christmas Day.
My votes (blurbs coming later)
1.Mad Men- what Mad Men did better than anyone else this year is continuing to move forward with the fewest missteps. As the MM cast expanded over the seasons, the show actually narrowed the focus to it's principal five all with wonderful performances from all. Highlight arcs-include Don and the murder dream, Sally's first date in the vain of Catcher in the Rye, Lane's and Peggy's very different farewells to SDCP, Pete's depressing realization that having everything can't replace the nothingness in his soul, Joans indecent decision and of course Roger's acid trip.
2.Justified- still a relatively fresh face at the top of TV, Season 3 of Justified was tasked with a difficult obstacle before it's premier sequence-following the fantastic Season 2, the season that might go down as Justified's finest moment. Justified has a very large roster of villains, with Season 3 debuting to very memorable ones, showrunner Graham Yost circles back to the center conflict-between Boyd Crowder and Raylan Givens(and ultimately Raylan inner conflict) with pathos that never grows stale.
more to come
3.Parks and Rec
4.Breaking Bad
5.Community
6.Shameless
7.Wilfred
8.Homeland
9.The Walking Dead
10.Archer

Totally in for this, reserving my spot for when I have more time.
Also, you should think about extending te voting period. I mean I know the worlds gonna end anyway but 3 days isn't a lot of time

1. Mad Men -- So many standout episodes and great moments this season. There was a stretch midway through where every episode was a grand slam. This may have been the best year ever for the show.
2. Breaking Bad -- They didn't top the whole story arc with Gus that was so tense last season. But they continued to show Walter's soul eroding. I can't wait for the end, but I know I will be disappointed once it goes.
3. Doctor Who -- I'm a huge honking nerd. It was a short season this year, but it more than made up for the disappointment last season. Every episode was like a little movie.
4. Game of Thrones - I really started to get this show this season.
5. 30 Rock -- Funniest show on TV
6. Parks and Recreation -- They really hit a high note with Leslie's run for public office. The debate episode was damn good. I even got a little choked up during it.
7. Louie -- You never know what direction the show will take. I loved the bit with David Lynch as Louie's talk show guru. And the episode with him going to Miami and meeting a cool young guy.
8. Sherlock -- Benedict Cumberbatch is God.
9. The Walking Dead -- Another show that gets better and better.
10. Eastbound and Down -- I don't like how it ended, but the episode with Kenny at his buddy Shane's funeral may have been one of the funniest things ever. And Lily Tomlin as Kenny's mom was genius casting.
Note: I haven't watched the current season of Homeland yet. I was waiting until it all wrapped up to watch it in a couple of big gulps.
Edited: Because I forgot Eastbound and Down's third season aired in 2012.

1. Californication - As a writer, I love everything about this show. I identify with Hank. It's dark and rooted in alcohol and drug abuse. What else do you need..
2. Homeland - Great show that I caught up on the whole first season this year, then watched the second season as it aired. Love the drama. Edges out Breaking Bad simply because I'm fresh on it.
3. Breaking Bad - Love it for the same reasons all of you do. One of the best shows on television. Huge Walter fan.
4. Workaholics - Favorite comedy on TV. Love Adam. I laugh at almost every scene he has. Karl is also a great character. And I loved the Penthouse, Penthouse episode this year. Laughed harder at that than any other show.
5. GIRLS - CANT WAIT for the next season. For whatever reason, I love what HBO has done here. I think it's got so much promise. The trailers for the next season look really solid.
6. The League - Was the Frank "The Body" Gibiatti episode not simply gold? That almost puts it at No. 5 alone. Love the cast of characters. Originally started loving Andre when he was on Human Giant back in the day.
7. Eastbound and Down - Kenny + Frank "The Body" Gibiatti. Need I say more?
8. Modern Family - I loved Happy Gilmore, so why wouldn't I love a grown up version of his love interest? Really though, best family show on television, though I also like The Middle.
9. Parks and Rec - Took over The Office for me at the same time it did for many of you. Love Ron Swanson the most, but every character appeals to me in a way.
10. Shameless - Love the family dynamic of the show. I am surprised it doesn't get more love.
Note: Edited from later post
I should also add that I don't watch Mad Men, Louie, Archer, Boardwalk, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and a couple other shows listed. It's not like I prefer these certain shows over those. Just haven't ever seen them.
