Yetty, you know you watch Homeland religiously so not sure why it's No. 9....

Season one was better, so that explains the fall to #9. How the hell did I forget to put Boardwalk in my top ten? It would probably be in the 8-10 range, but whatever.

without doing a total count yet, which I will give a day 1 update later on this afternoon, Breaking Bad seems to be leading here. For those with reserved spots (and there are many) please vote as soon as possible, even if you delay your blurbs.

1, Louie. To call it a sitcom is just a convenience, it is really the show Seinfeld claims to be -- how a comedian comes up with his routines. Only instead of funny and quirky, it is frustrated, angry, and confused. It is also routinely brilliant and hysterical. The best thing on TV. And no, nothing is all that close.

2. Parks and Rec. Pretty much the perfect sitcom. Workplace comedies work the best, giving a reason for different people to hang out (and the bizarre history of Pawnee always provides good laughs). It's got a wonderful cast with great chemistry. And it can be sentimental without being sappy. But mainly, it is funny as hell and has a hero you root for. Leslie Knope for President.

3. Breaking Bad. Routinely over the top and ridiculous, it is still compelling TV. It also has pulled the most difficult trick: it makes us identify with a guy who is pretty much pure evil at this point. Yet we're still rooting for Walter White.

4. American Horror Story. The best bad show in TV history. It breaks pretty much every rule of storytelling, yet still works due to its complete commitment to the concept and willingness to go anywhere. Also, it has found surprising depth this season.

5. Community. Still eagerly waiting its return. Sure, its a niche show designed to appeal to a certain kind of geek. But I am that kind of geek.

6. Game of Thrones. Starting to deviate from the books a bit, which is a good call. Just compelling drama and the best soap opera going. Only with more murders.

7. Downtown Abbey. Dame Maggie Smith. Your argument is invalid.

8. Doctor Who. I've resisted it and resisted it, mainly because my best friend growing up is a massive Whovian and I'm just sick of Doctor Who. But he finally got me to watch the new series and he's right... it's awesome.

9. Boardwalk Empire. I've become recently obsessed with Prohibition, so this just hits a sweet spot for me.

10. Walking Dead. The most discussed and flat out fun show on TV.

I enjoyed Louie this season, especially the strip club episode, but there was a 2-3 week stretch where I was not interested at all. The way they tied it together at the end of the season brilliant though.

I tend to gravitate towards comedies, and so don't take time to seek out as many dramas as I maybe should. Still, here' my ten favorites on TV of 2012 and a few honorable mention at the nd.

1. Parks & Recreation - Like the strongest seasons of the US Office combined with the best seasons of the Simpsons, Parks and Recreation takes us into the lives of the Pawnee Parks Department and the many, many folks they interact with throughout their day.

The main cast is great and continually delivers the laughs, but I think what really stands out with P&R is how developed the town is around the cast. The secondary characters always have depth and a personality that only adds to the humor of the show. I think co-creator Mike Schur explained that he wanted Pawnee to be a live action Springfield, and that's exactly what the show has accomplished. Everything about this show works for me.

2. Mad Men - Though I found the show to focus too much on Megan throughout the season, that focus proved a necessary evil to allow the viewer to understand Don's personality change (and likely reversion back by season's end). Lane, Peggy, and Roger;s individual stories each resonated a great deal with me; and it was a real pleasure to see the show try some different things (the horror feel one episode, the three piece story episode) that worked more often than not.

3. Breaking Bad - The "Crystal Blue Persuasion" scene, alone, would have put BB on my list. Another tense (half) season featuring excellent work by the leads of the show. I enjoyed Walt building his own personal empire - all while knowing from the season's first scene that this will not end well. Looking forward to the big finish with hopes that BB will land towards the top of the 2013 list as well.

4. Louie - A heartfelt, sometimes brutal drama that happens to be one of the funniest shows on TV. I didn't quite care for this season as much as season 2, but there were more than enough moments in this season to love. The Letterman arc was a particular highlight for me.

5. Bob's Burgers - No one else I know watches this show. I dig all of Bob's kids and the bizarre story lines and parodies that pop up each show. Give it a chance over a few episodes. It's my favorite animated show on television.

6. Community - Fun cast with a showrunner who was never afraid to borrow from any and all genres - somehow maintaining the funny throughout. The Law & Order episode and video game episode were two of my all-time favorites. Hopefully they can finish strong in 2013.

7. Game of Thrones - Love the books, enjoy the hell out of the show. "Blackwater" may have been my favorite episode of TV this season. Hope they don't screw the pooch as we get more into the story but will happily stay along for the ride.

8. New Girl - I started watching because of Zooey but stuck around for Schmidt and Nick. It tries too hard to up Jess' wacky quotient at times, but the other characters and chemistry between the actors really benefits the show.

9. Happy Endings - I'm not sure any show has a higher jokes per minute ratio. Thankfully, most of them hit. I think it's really reached its stride in the last year as the characters have continued to grow on me (especially Dave and Alex) and hope that it will receive an order for another season.

10. Dexter - As someone who was out on Dexter after the previous two seasons, I found myself thoroughly enjoying episodes this year (and choosing to watch Dexter before Homeland on DVR each week).

HM (no particular order): Homeland, Archer, Bent, Justified, Luck, 30 Rock

The show has always been in my top 5. Incredibly well done. The whole cancer storyline has been particularly well done and the addition of Ray Romano has been great. Didn't think it would work but his character fits him perfectly.

Did you ever watch Men of a Certain Age? That show was fantastic, Romano played a aspiring golf pro/divorced father of 2 teens/gambling addict. He can really do drama.

1. Game of Thrones - just pure awesomeness. Using 10 hours per book and bringing that epic tale to life and nailing it with the actors chosen.
2. Dexter - its been a long journey with Dex and the series is wrapping up nicely
3. Homeland - bat shite crazy bitch and a terrorist plot, show has an amazing level of suspense each episode and always has you on the edge of your seat
4. Revenge - Emily Thorne aint one to be fricked with, watching her take down the family who fricked over he daddy is a hell of a ride
5. The League - has fallen from its glory days but this shite is still funny
6. New Girl - had me hooked from the douche bag jar
7. 2 Broke Girls - probably some of the crudest humor of a primetime sitcom and the chick with huge tits is hilarious
8. Fringe - jumped on this bandwagon way too late but the final season has been awesome
9. Once Upon a Time - surprised how good this show is with how bad the acting is. The plot carries this show and the cool tie ins with the fairy tale world just makes this show work somehow.
10. Pretty Little Liars - guilty pleasure show

1. Breaking Bad: enough said
2. Revenge: This show doesn't get enough love on this board probably for the perceived "chick show" stigma. That is entirely incorrect, Revenge flat out rocks.
3. Spartacus: Has been off since early 2012 so it's not in everyones minds but this show absolutely rocks. It is mindless entertainment at its finest.
4. Grimm: Really got good in the 2nd season, the plot is solid and it is definitely not going to win any EMMYs but it is great entertainment.
5. Homeland:Season 2 not as good as 1 but still better than most TV.
6. Shameless: It has been off the air for awhile so it's in the back of everyone's minds but last season was great. Funny, good drama, great plot, etc etc
7. The Walking Dead: Show has greatly improved since last season
8. Game of Thrones: Show I look forward to the most but it just didn't deliver enough last season. Will really pick up now that they are on book 3.
9. Californication: While it has certainly gotten progressively worse, it is still very entertaining and there is ALWAYS boobs.
10. SOA: couldnt make a top 10 list and not have it on there

Hon Mention: IASIP, Workaholics, modern Family, Parks & Rec, HIMYM, Girls, House of Lies, The League, Eastbound. All shows I love and watch religiously but have taken a dive this year.

I haven't caught up with Mad Men yet but it will be on this list when i do.
