The Saints debacle in the name of "safety" started it.

Now you have the ref issue where it has clearly affected the outcome of a game.

I truly believe the actions by Goodell in the Saints case is directly a result of his unbelievable arrogance. What happens if fines/suspensions are handed down after the comments from last nights game?

Do you think the NFLPA really has the balls to strike?

No. They can't do anything but make masked remarks or risk getting fined.

1) No they don't.
2) An NFLPA rep was on M&M this morning and made it sound like striking is a violation of the CBA.

If any 2 teams had reason to protest with a 3 and out fest 1st quarter, it's the Saints and Packers. It may be a good week to take the Under.

Serious question - Are lockouts a violation of the CBA?

monday night football game, game consists of 5 plays.

Each play takes the snap and the teams just stand there for 15 minutes long till quarter ends. Same for OT. Game ends on national television 0-0 with no play on the field. frick the NFL, advertisers are pissed, NFL Pissed. Fans pissed, everyone wins, goodell loses.

It depends on when the lockout occurs. There was actually no CBA in place during the last lockout, but on it's face it seemed like a silly comment. Of course striking would violate the CBA, but he said it in a way which makes me think it's spelled out in the CBA so maybe there are consequences to striking.

Drew should go deep to Devery on the first play from scrimmage.... Then they can join in.

That being said, if Drew and the Saints were to join in, and Drew were to give up his opportunity to break Unitas' record, how big of a statement would that be?

Not gonna happen. Brees cares too much about records. And I'm not saying that as if it's bad.

He could've broken Marino's record in '08 with a dump pass to the RB against Prevent Defense on the last play of the last game of the season, but instead tried to go downfield to get the touchdown to win the game in a game that meant nothing to the Saints.

You sure about that?

they have a valid contract, so I don't think legally they can strike.

If the NFLPA whether the CBA says they can't, they can go on strike Sunday morning and the NFL, would have to get a federal injunction to stop it. By, that time, the Sunday games are shot and the damage is done.

I dont think you are understanding my question. I didn't ask if they legally could, I asked if they had the balls to

Besides, they may argue that the NFL is in violation of the CBA because of the refs. After last nights debacle, they might now have to argue very hard.

it doesn't take balls to violate a valid contract and lose millions of dollars in a lawsuit after wards.

It was a bad call, they have no leg to stand on based on that, blowing a TD/INT call at the end of the game is not player safety.

Why would they? Why risk losing your chosen profession? The owners would bring in replacements and crush the union. De Smith is just posturing, he would be a bigger idiot than Upshaw ever was if he allowed this.
