Any of you guys own a GMC Yukon XL? I am looking to trade in my truck for a yukon XL to better fit my family. I am looking at one that has 115K miles on it. Would only need it for 4 years before I buy something new. I typically put about 10-11K miles per year on a vehicle.

I am hearing these trucks run at least 250K miles. Any opinions on this?

If it has the cylinder shutoff and it hasn't been deleted prior to 100k I'd pass.

Other than that the plastic shite and door actuators will need repair but the drive train will be fine.

What he said and check if the transmission has gone out on it yet. If not definitely test drive it and pull the stick on the transmission fluid.

What year is it?

They said the transmission has been flushed and vehicle has been maintained per manufactory recommendations.

So my 2016 had the transmission go out at a little pass 100k and a lifter go bad in October at 118k. Just got the truck out of the shop finally and roughly 11k between the two fixes.

I have only ever had GMs, I will never own another after this one.

My brother 2016 transmission went out at 98k and he is doing a AFM delete. You are rolling the dice at best, I would pass and get a Sequoia.

Wife has a 2014 SLT with 120k miles. The inside plastic stuff is all cracked but engine wise it’s been OK. Currently it’s leaking oil but I don’t wanna spend 1k to replace the rear main seal on it. So my wife carries oil, a rag, spout, jumper cables in the back LOL. Not sure if I’ll ever buy another GMC between this vehicle and the issues with my 2018 gmc truck.

I’ve owned a 2016 and currently own a 2019. Current one has 70k miles. Engine has been great on both. But the interiors are cheap in my opinion. Something always breaks whether electronics or the plastics.

I’d have someone check the transmission. Had to put a new transmission in a 2016 with 110k miles.

We took a 2014 to 135000 miles. No transmission issues, but we thought we had that because it would bump when shifting from reverse to drive. It wasn't the transmission, though, it was the damn motor mounts. They were broken or loose, so when it torqued up to get going, it actually shifted the motor and bumped back down. I didn't really believe that it could be that, but fixing that fixed it. I can imagine that many others had the same issue and thought it was transmission, that's what the dealership shop said.

Have a 2020 one now, no issues other than the damn battery, which for some stupid reason only had a 1 year warranty, unlike any other battery I've ever had even that came with a new vehicle.

I hate driving the thing other than on the interstate, it's like a damn boat. Turning radius is way better than most trucks at least, makes parking doable. Fits all 6 of us and a bunch of our crap to go places.

I had a 2012 Yukon XL and had to replace the transmission at 126,000 miles. Door handles broke and drivers seat wore out around 150,000 miles. All the buttons we touched on a regular basis, like the AC, all wore out and had to be replaced. Biggest piece of crap we have ever owned.

Fiancée has a 2005 Yukon SLT with over 400,000 miles on it.

Transmission was replaced at about 150,000, and except for consumables, it’s actually been a solid truck. It’s been through hell and back but keeps chugging along.

That being said, it is our back up vehicle. I had a Chevy that barely lasted 100,000 which needed a new transmission and another that started throwing codes.
I traded both for Rams and haven’t looked back.
At one time GM a made pretty good trucks. IMO, those days are over.

I have a 2003 Escalade with a 5.3, about to hit 250K. Pull a pretty heavy 20’ Hydrasport without a problem. Regular oil changes is about the extent of it. Had to replace the air compressor on the Autoride, that’s about it. It just had its 20th birthday.

Motor mounts were broken and transmission went out. It was not a noise, the transmission completely went out. If I were buying at 2016, I would go in knowing I am risking having to buy a new transmission soon.
