Y'all ready for Saturday?

Checked a bunch of trees on Sunday. There's a few oaks starting to drop but doesn't look like the deer are hitting them hard yet. Will probably hunt a pinch point Saturday morning/evening.

Shot my broadheads yesterday, good to go there. All flashlight batteries are charged up. Thermacell is working and have extra pads. Clothing treated with permethrin. Set my climber, loc on, and saddle up. Boots don't leak. New rangefinder battery. Plenty of TP in the truck. Knives all sharpened. Compass in pack.

Can't figure out what I missed but I know I'll get to the camp and need something.

ETA: If using OnX/Basemap/Huntstand make sure you have the offline maps for your area downloaded and synced.

I think so. Not sure where I'm going to hunt yet. I was getting daily pics, but this past week movement has seemed to have slowed down. Maybe this cooler weather will get them moving again.

Bow is ready. Need to sharpen broadheads though.

Climbed a tree in the backyard to check the saddle and sticks last weekend and all was good. Really think I have my set up how I want it this year.

I'm sure I'll forget something though. Just hope it isn't my release.

I usually squirrel hunt with a 22 but I bought a new shotgun this year, so I have to break it in

I keep mine buckled to the bow when it isn't on my. There's a magnet near my grip that keeps it from flopping around.

eta: what are you using to sharpen them? I have a Lansky and I can't get Magnus Stinger blades shaving sharp with it.

you can also tag via text if you have cell service. I keep the number and instructions saved as a contact in my phone.

Have your paper tags and a pen anyway incase some dickhead game warden tries to tell you that if you drop your phone in the water you're going to break the law.

Oaks seem to be hit or miss which should be a good thing. Packed my bag and got all my gear ready. Changed battery’s a week or two ago sorted my packs and threw away all the trash that accumulates.
Been shooting almost every day for the last several weeks but had a ohh shite moment yesterday. First shot at 40 was about 8-12 inches low started checking everything and realized that my string splitter peep had slipped. Not sure how I had waxed my sting but maybe it hung up on something and pulled it??!
Going to the camp Friday night will dine on backstrap from last year and debate and change my mind 14times over a couple glasses of bourbon on what tree I’ll get in only to make a audible Saturday morning at 530.

Got me a big ole slick head lined up to break the ice on. Put a little meat in the freezer then its time to start hunting the big boys.

Kme Broadhead Sharpener

First year with this and it is amazing. There are YouTube videos on how to set it. With it my broadheads are stupid, hair popping, sharp.

Not cheap, but wish I would have gotten it sooner.

You’ll see in the videos a final step of using buffing compound on the inside cardboard of an opened cereal box. I then run mine over a strop. This really takes the sharpness to another level.

This guy makes the best broadhead sharpeners on the market imo. Replaceable, fixed-doesn't matter. He even has a guide that changes the angle on a 3 blade fixed like a snuffer to a more acute angle and therefore much sharper. My exodus blades are scalpel sharp. He has youtube vids on all his sharpeners.

Also all you need is sandpaper.

That's pretty cool. I have some diamond stones that I can use as well. I'm going to play around with the Lansky a little more and if I can't get them hair popping sharp I'll order these. I've never had any trouble getting knives razor sharp with the lansky so IDK what the problem is with the broadheads. Thanks
