For you guys shooting heavy heads, did you change spine? Are you shooting helical?
Been thinking about changing not so much for penetration but for better flight and less noise.

I think the highest i get to is 2000, maybe 2500, but i also use the buffing compound after. That really gives it that polished look

I'm going to kill 8 cat squirrels in an hour and a half and go home and take a nap.

Not Going. 1st opener will miss in long time. Squirrel opens same time, moon worst as can be, best area not open, still got medium supply of sausage and ground.
Will go for sure Oct 22 - 28, best moon times, acorns falling, hunt during week
Most folks back at work.

The KME sharpener is legit. I've been using it for about a year on 200 gr. cutthroats. I use it on diamond stones - 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 2500, then buffing compound on cardboard - but after you get it sharp I really only use the 2500 stone and then strop it and it will come back really quick. No real need to hit it with the course stones again unless your having trouble getting a burr.

This year I'm shooting a Gold Tip Airstrike 300 spine with 200 gr cutthroats and a 75 gr. Ethics Archery outsert and a 3 vane matching helical. Get an insane amount of rotation with this setup - 3-4 revolutions after broadhead target impact. I love tinkering with archery setups, but the reality is that most setups will work just fine if we do out part with shot placement.

Anyways - I'll be in a tree in SE Texas all weekend. Can't beat cooler weather, bowhunting, and campfire dinner with friends.

I'm ready and happy the temps aren't going to be bad. I'm used to hunting in Ohio where the temps are in the 40s and 60s, so this will be new to me. I just don't want to see anyone post any pictures of a pet dog they shot and skinned.

I’ve been hunting for two weeks and am in a stand right now. Only seen a few but I’m enjoying the weather and getting out of the office.

69 right now and we drop below 40 tonight. Sitting here with my Mathews and Traypans on the ready. No Thermacell needed today.

Good luck everyone!

I’m really excited for bow season for the first time in quite awhile. We got rid of our pine farm big lease last year because of pigs and it was really tough to bow hunt. This is my first full season on a new place that is pretty loaded with deer and I’m feeling pretty fortunate because I don’t need another deer for the freezer right now.

I have several on camera that are still in velvet as of Sunday. 2 are on top of my list, but if anything decent walks with velvet I will probably shoot. Never gotten an opportunity at a deer in velvet.

You won't catch me up a tree Saturday morning where I am going. That is a death wish. I will be blasting zeeks with the rest of them.

I have that Stay Sharp guide for my Sevr's and it works great. 2500 grit then buffing compound on a strop for last step. I shrpen my one piece 3 blades on flat stones then a strop.
