I don’t. Having to listen to a bleating fawn would ruin my week.

Make it tough to shoot during early bow season, but for me and my conscious it’s worth it

Feel the same way you do. Just can’t do it, but I don’t have a problem with anyone else doing it. To each his own!

During the Depression, paw paw would wound a fawn and then kill it's mother.

Usually in this situation I shoot through the fawn lined up into the doe and get the "2 - 4 -1"

Doe's will be in groups so make it a challenge and kill the oldest doe that always blows at you.

I normally just shoot the fawn as long as their spots are gone. Just kidding, I have later in the year when I know they are old enough to make it on their own.

Back when I was young and dumb and on DMAP, I'd shoot the doe and the next day shoot the fawn (no spots) from the same stand. We had a ton of deer.
These days, I rarely shoot a doe. I like seeing deer and letting my kids have a shot. I just love spending time in the woods with the family now. It's funny how things change once we have kids and get older.

Pretty much where I'm at. 9.5 times out of 10 I'm letting the doe and fawn walk and just enjoy being part of it and watching. I'd offer my son to take a shot though but I'm not sure that he'd want to either.

Yes, but with that said I don't bow hunt. Too damn hot in South Texas. I have hunted my property for the last 12 years and the county I hunt has 4 doe days and they are at the end of November. Hunting the same property and running a trail camera 24/7 I can recognize the does that are there and we don't shoot any of them that have twins. So, for the 4 doe days the ones that are obviously older and or the ones with only one fawn are fair game.

I will assume you are talking about spotted fawns. I feel like back in the day there was a law against shooting a doe with spotted fawns. That isn't the case today. Still, I won't shoot a doe if the baby's have spots or are really little.

As for never shooting does with its children and all, that is pretty much impossible. I never even heard of that until a couple years ago.

Shoot the fawn if you’re soft hearted. Their momma wont stick around to shed a tear and that meat is still milk tender.

NO

I did this on accident a few years back right at dusk.

Then hunted the same stand a few afternoons after and the fawn was hanging around looking for it's mother.

Felt like a turd about it and still do.

I've done it a few times and always feel horrible after as the fawn hangs around and stomps for mama to get up. Probably won't ever do it again honestly.
