If you had more unregulated gun laws after you had a license? I was reading where New Zealand had legal suppressors, but stringent requirements to obtain a license. I feel like taking a firearm class, personal interview, and showing a baseline intelligence would be worth it if I could have more gun freedoms post that initial process.

No, because the restrictions to get one will become so stringent that no one can get a license.

No offense, but that is a lazy response.

What’s a gun license exactly?

No. I don't need a license to buy a gun now. Why would I want to be required to have a license.

Does the status of an active drivers licenses of terrorists in France stop them from plowing into people using motorized vehicles?

Just like a hunting license, you would need to meet standards to buy firearms.

We’re American and thus meet the standard unless dictated otherwise by judges in which that does nothing keeping weapons out of criminals anyways

Who sets these standards?

Who decides whether they are met or not?

Disagree. I would be good with more requirements, and once I have my permits, no state can tell me I can't have a gun. You could pass in LA, and carry a handgun in California for example. Walk into a store, flash your card, and buy a gun. Your background checks, etc are already complete.

Yes - I agree with all of this. I have nothing to hide, am mentally competent, and have no problem paying whatever the license fee would be to own guns.

If this sort of thing ever comes to vote I am all for it

So, you would be up for a gun registry?

We would need to establish a system. This is a white board discussion ATM.

Never understood this argument really. Where to people think criminals' guns originate??

No. Just a system to establish mental capacity to own firearms. Once you pass the process you are free to obtain as many firearms as you please. This is more in line of a hunters safety course, or a background check to coach little league, or passing a CDL test.

No. It's my right to bear arms. You don't need a license for something that is your right.
