Red Wing pecos never let a man down.

These and the danner Chelsea pull on. They are recraftable like the pecos.

My last pair of pecos went 13 years and I almost slipped off a roof then I realized the soles were completely smooth.

So.i got em reworked. Leather was still awesome.

Hexarmor goggles we use at work. They have a line that has micro etching in them that is ridiculously fog resistant.

I can go into the freezer at -14F and walk outside and they won’t fog.

I’m sure they have the same tech for glasses

Not sure where you’re getting the $400 price. The ones I have are more like $210-$220. Check the website or if in the Lafayette area I use Pack & Paddle. Blundstone may have $400 pairs but I get the classic Chelsea boots and they’re awesome, not $400.

For boots I like slip on Ariats, but whatever you do I’d get good insoles.

As far as safety glasses, there are tons. I’d recommend this for fogging. (It’s called cat crap. yes,, that’s the name). It works.

$400 for really good boots is totally worth it as long as you arent going to destroy them with chemicals.

If they're going to get chemical exposure, totally not worth it. They arent going to last more than 6 months no matter how much you spend.

I use twisted X waterproof non safety tie for general use around the ranch and hunting. Use my snake boots if I’m going to be in some brush and taller grass.

I got some Justin lace ups a while back. They look damn good and a well made. However, they have some weird fold on the tongue that hurts like hell when I wear them. Would not recommend Justin’s unless you try them on first.

If you are going to be using these in an industrial environment that has a safety man walking around looking for something to bitch about. Check and make sure you are allowed to have wedge soles. Some companies for some reason have a policy banning wedge soles.

I wore Georgia Romeos when I was in your situation. Very comfortable and they not a full boot so they somewhat lighter.

I've got a pair of Thorogood 6" Crazy Horse Moc Toe in steel toe and non safety toe under my desk right now and hate putting them on, they are so heavy and uncomfortable compared to the Danner's.
I've not worn the Danner's, but I much prefer my non steel toe thorogoods to my steel toe thorogoods. I remember comparing the weight of the thorogoods to his wolverine 1000 miles with another OBer in SoDak and the thorogoods felt like they were half the weight.

All of the weight is in the sole. I had the soft wedge sole, when I got them resoled after 1000+ miles of upland hunting and local camp work days I got a different sole and I don't care for them as much but I just need to go back to the other sole. My steel toes are the max wear with is a much denser and heavier sole.

I currently own 2 pair of Redwing Peco's. I have a pair that are my daily wear to work for about three years. They become my farm boots after that. Fixing to purchase a new pair and my daily wear will be come my next pair of farm boots and retire the old farm boots.
