For an animal that shouldnt be in the ecosystem to begin with? Doesnt bother me. Should we let all apple snails live that are destroying the freshwater marsh? What about nutria? Invasive species are just that, invasive. I dont know how much u get to south LA, but i have seen prime duck leases destroyed by snails and turned into mud flats. Nutria cause huge amounts of coastal erosion. So my feeings toward all invasive species remains the same, kill em all.

Who says these bastards stop during duck season

They shouldn't be running through duck ponds at night. The ducks already never get to rest cause of the dickheads running through the ponds throughout the day.

I am surprised how big of a pass the sport gets when it comes to wanton waste

Someone doesn’t understand what wanton waste is.

I’m pretty sure he’s using “wanton waste” as a concept not a statute.

Reckless/needless waste of wildlife of value

He removed it, but carp and gar are pretty much valueless

Have you ever tried that? Those suckers are fast. And, if you already have them in the barrel...

bow fishing is something i see as not very sporty but it does take skill to hit what you shoot just like any form of shooting.

i dont want bow fishing stopped, to each his own, its just another type of sport, even if i personally dont think its a very sporting way to take fish.

what i dont like about it and think should be outlawed to take with a bow, is the taking of any species classified as a game fish, namely redfish and also speckled trout, even though i dont think many, if any trout at all, are dumb enough to get near enough to the boats to able to be shot with a bow.

as to disturbing your ducks man you gotta learn to just deal with it its just part of life. regular fishermen might show up there at dawn while you want to hunt. you dont own it and cant dictate who else can use it, nor should you ever be allowed to

Me, along with surface drives in the marsh.

Unless we blow up all levees and flow control structures east of the mississippi, you cant harp on coastal restoration while simultaneously blasting mud all over the place.

People shoot plenty of other gamefish. It’s very legal.

You have your definitions mixed up. Redfish are the only fish with gamefish status that you can shoot with a bow.

Bowfishing on public land at night should probably be regulated but do whatever you want on private land. 5 fish is 5 fish, it doesn't really matter if you take them with a bow or with a rod. If you want to burn your ponds at night, that's on you.

If there is a negative impact on redfish populations from night time bow fishing then it's small enough that I don't notice it. The population seems to be doing just fine. I've seen my fair share of dead redfish but I've seen more dead redfish behind menhaden boats and I don't hear anyone complaining about that.

Speaking of waste...

And this is the breeding stock, not the rats. I complain, but no one listens.

The whole sport just appears to be extremely destructive in my opinion.

Your going overboard with this.. I understand 100% about the shooting under slot reds and throwing them back because in my eyes they are game fish and should not be shot like bass cant. At night when the fish are hauling arse you cant tell and in my opinion it sucks that you have a lot of undersized reds getting thrown back. However I like bowfishing during the day and i only bowfish for big gar and shoot the hell out of them damn invasive Asian carp which is a good thing.. To say the whole sport is destructive is overboard but they do have downfalls to it just like most things..

Actually, in this state with its current laws we do own it and pay taxes on it. I'm not sure what you are talking about sir.

I'll break this down slowly for you...if to boats are in your duck pond red fishing at first light, you probably wont kill too many ducks.

So, you want ALL fishing in the marsh outlawed so you can duck hunt?
