Who here has done trapping?

I have to get some predators and raccoons off my land. They’re everywhere
I’ve ordered a trapping starters kit that should be in this weekend. Hoping I can thin the number pretty drastically.

We trapped some beavers this year.
Have you tried using a fox pro and thermal for the predators?

I have a buddy who has been working on the coyotes and raccoons pretty good. Has also caught two bobcats. He even caught a buzzard by both feet in a trap.

I wish I lived closer to my place, I could literally pay for it just on selling the coons. Especially for the big prices the super bowl weekend was bringing.

I now have a fox-pro but not a thermal yet.
I actually missed a bobcat a couple of weeks ago that came to the fox pro. Came up on my right and I couldn’t get the gun to my right shoulder. Had a hard time finding it in the scope off my left.

I don't know what your other predators are, but raccoons should be easy to catch. I bought a trap to try and catch a feral cat that lives in the woods behinds my house and drops about 2 litters of kittens every year. It's going on 2 years now and I can't tell you the number of raccoons and possums I've caught in that thing. The fricking feral cat is still running around though. That little fricker is smart as shite and will not go into that trap. I hate to do it, but I'm really starting to think a pellet gun or .22 is going to be my only answer to ridding myself of that feral cat.

My FIL loves to run traps, I go with him a couple times a week. I've come to really enjoy it. Not too time consuming and has improved our lease and thinned out the farms we have permission to trap.
Coon Creek Outdoors and North American Trapper on YouTube have lots of knowledge.

dig a hole about 6-10in at an angle and build up the brush to only allow them to get to it from one side. put trap on the ground in front of it. put bacon grease or a sardine in the hole.

My 12 year old son has several traps set in the woods around our house. He baits them after school and checks them in the morning before they leave. He catches coons, squirrels, possums and the occasional rabbit. He absolutely loves it.

Raccoons are extremely easy. Dog proof traps and corn is all you need. Put 3 or 4 in an area, spread out. Have a plan to "extract" and dispose of them though before you set the traps.

Dog proofs and snares.
Snares arent legal in Alabama. ETA - saw the bama logo an d missed that OP is in TN. I dont know TN's rules.
My son and I took a weekend trapping class AFW put on. was great hands on. We set DPs for raccoons, Offset jaw traps for coyote and body grips for Beaver. DPs are anbout as easy as it gets. Corn or marshmellow near a travel area and youve got a catch. MB550 for coyote.

Many times. Visit trapperman .com website. TONS of info, and people to talk to and help you. Also sell amazing predator lures..Few suggestions
- scent control, even more than you would hunting. Rubber boots, rubber gloves, spray scent cover. Try not to drip sweat.
-boil and dye your traps, dont just stick shiney new oily traps in the ground.
-dirt hole sets are awesome, and work for everything
-get a sifter, small shovel, and stake your traps well.
-check them twice a day. Earlier the better.
-make you a catch pole, unless you just want to kill them. Live coyote and fox sell for a pretty penny to pens.
-dont do it if neighbors dogs will get in them.. they will get in.

Catch these things all the time in the Ruston city limits.
The price on the CountyLine Catch & Release Live Animal Trap, 2 Pack at Tractor Supply has nearly doubled in price since I bought mine.

There was a great thread on here maybe 2013 or 2014. I tried to search but couldn’t find it.

What’s the best way to dispose? Drowning in the creek?

When I was a kid we could get $15.00 -$18.00 per coon hide
That was good money to a teenager, we trapped and also had a dog so we would sale 50-100 hides per month.
Also a few fox, mink, coyote etc etc
Get on youtube and learn to do a dirt hole set
