What kind?
Is it worth the money?
How good can you shoot using it vs sights?
Anything else worthy of mentioning?
Can I get one for my guard dog?

I have one on my 380, it came with it though.

I messed around with them when they came out. Just a waste IMHO. You aren't going to be looking for a shaky arse red dot when you are getting ready to pop a cap. Look at the person you are shooting instead of the damn dot

I am also looking into this for my SO's Beretta nano 9mm.

I have Crimson Trace on my Glock 22. Not worth the $250 IMO.

Cool. This and hammers responses is what I was needing.

I'd be more scared of her yelling at me

I have a crimson Trace on my 380. I bought it more for the visual aspect of showing the criminal where the bullet is about to go. Its not good for target practice as is shows how much you shake.

Only thing I would see it coming in handy for is if you are awakened in the middle of the night and your eyes aren't fully adjusted yet, or if you're like me and wear glasses and happen to not grab them.

If my gun is pointed at someone, they wouldn't have time to worry about a laser sight

What about night sights?
How much light do they need to work.

Lasers are highly over rated. A good set of night sights is what you're looking for. I have the novaks with trijicon's tritium inserts on my carry gun and they are badarse. Doesn't take a lot of light. You can always see either the glow or the white around it.

My dad has painted a few of his guns with some better dot stuff

I have had everything from Trijicon, Meprolight, Truglo, etc. My newest ones are contrasting (orange front, green rear) plus the front one has a white circle around it. It's for "rapid front sight acquisition". I don't know about that, but it does help my eyes gravitate to the front sight.

I have one on my Kimber crimson carry and I don't remember the last time I turned it on. Wife has one on her SW Bodyguard but I forbid her to use it until she gets used to firing without it.

Don't underestimate lasers people. They're incredibly lethal when you're up against the type of criminal who likes to pose before they attack so you can find the little red dot.

I'm not an advocate for them in any way, but you're acting like finding a glowing red dot in a dimly lit house at night is hard to find.

I got a CT on my s&w 38 442 only because I bought it to share with my SO. I prefer shooting it with the regular sights. The lazer is so shaky, a burgular might attack anyway thinking I cant aim steady.
