I have Crimson Trace grips that came with my Kimber. I will still aim with the nightsites but you could blind your target with a laser in the eye right before blowing them away.

Lasers are highly over rated. A good set of night sights is what you're looking for.
Doesn't take a lot of light. You can always see either the glow or the white around it.
^^^ This.
Lasers have their place, along with RDS -- if you truly have vision problems and can't see regular "iron" sights.
But if your vision is such that you can see your sights, that's the faster, more reliable way to do it 98.372% of the time. (And when your batteries die, and you start trying to find the little red dot on the thug's red shirt at high noon, this percentage increases to approximately 100.00000%).
Night sights = good option for any self-defense handgun.
Tactical lights = also good for self-defense weapons. But holster choices will be limited if it's a CCW weapon. And all the "I want to carry a mouse gun in my pocket" folks will be hard-pressed to fit a gun-mounted light in the pocket of those Levis.
Those folks would be better off carrying a "real" gun, instead of trying to jazz up a mouse gun.
eta: added reference to RDS

I happen to disagree with most of you guys and see the practical use of a laser. I don't have them on any of my handguns, but my dad has one on his P380 and it's still lightweight and still fits in his pocket just fine.
It makes that gun so much easier to shoot it's ridiculous. But that's not the most significant thing about them that makes them useful.
Shooting with both eyes open with a laser is so ridiculously easy. While you should check everyday to make sure the laser stays bright, shooting a tiny pocket pistol with both eyes open is a huge advantage.
While I do not advocate for a laser on a larger CC handgun (like my SR9c) I think it is PERFECT for tiny pistols that have minimal sights, especially something with virtually NO sights like the LCP.

I'm not an advocate for them in any way, but you're acting like finding a glowing red dot in a dimly lit house at night is hard to find.
I'm sure a laser is easy to find in the dark. But IMO it simply adds time to target acquisition. A good set of night sights are far better suited for acquiring and engaging targets as quickly as possible.

Yeah, like I said I have one just b/c my bodyguard came with it. Im not going to turn it on in the middle of the day or at the range, but getting up in the middle of the night without my glasses or with half closed eyes, it might come in handy.

I have a CT laser on my G23 and shoot and practice with and without it. My reason for it stems from my having lasik in my dominant eye. I have trouble focusing on front sight at times in low light. The other day at Precision I don't know if was the lane I was in or what but could not get a good sight picture of neither my LC9 or my Sig P238. I had not previously had any trouble with either so I chalked it up to lighting. Laser on the Glock has been great. CT coming for the LC9. Going to stick with the sights on the 238. Getting old eyes sucks
