The gf is from there and I need a reason to visit other than family. Of course that's important too but you know what I mean.

Any walk in areas where I don't need a boat? Any leases in rice fields or anything like that? All cotton and shite?

I guess I could make the hour drive over to Mer Rouge and do some guided hunt? Or go the other way and hunt MS delta?

Where isn't there to hunt up around there, family doesn't have property and tons of access to places. Does the family not farm up there, what else is there to do up there

Lake Providence, LA is about as poverty a stricken place in America as they come. However, there isn't many places in America that has better deer and duck hunting than around Lake Providence, LA. If I had access to millions of dollars today, I'd buy as much land as I could around East Carroll Parish over damn near anywhere else in America.

That said, if your gf is from there, she has connections. You're either filthy rich or don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of if you're from those parts. There's really no in between. There are plenty of folks here that are from those parts and can take you duck hunting. You will never take another duck hunting trip in South LA after a flooded timber hunt off the Ole Man River.

Is the family doesn't have property good luck finding it, ask her dad to ask around

We did some work at the new acid plant and I think that's about the only thing going on up there

Oh Really, Lake Providence you say?

I bet we know some of the same people.

MS river is right there and I heard some good reports several times last year.

Ooh. This could turn into a Timber vs Rice vs Marsh discussion

Timber wins and it's not even close

Eng08, I don't know a ton of people from up there but my gf sure does. They are well off but they aren't in the agriculture business per se. So I don't have a connection to land through her family. Guess I'll keep probing her for some friends who will take me.

It's amazing. She tells me she grew up at hunting camps all her life but she doesn't know where to duck hunt.

I agree timber wins but marsh is a close second. Rice fields are boring but the added bonus is you get geese.

Small community and folks in those parts take care of their own. If you aren't in it for the long haul with this girl, I'd suggest deleting this thread. OB isn't the OT, but a lot of good ole boys in those parts don't visit the OT.

I have no dog in this hunt, just adding my .02 so your cover isn't blown down the road, if that is of any concern for you.

True. Pretty much like this all through the Delta.

Every one of these guys is telling you the truth......and there's a lot of truth in what boss is saying too....if she can't find you a duck hunt......she either isn't REALLY into you..or is embarrassed by you.

I guess that not finding a duck hunt could happen in them parts if the family does not farm,is possibly African American, or only hunts dur.

Otherwise, spot on.
