With hunting season coming up, I'm looking to buy my own shotgun and rifle. There are tons of gun dealers in Louisiana, but before I visit one, I would to hear from you guys. I'm in Baton Rouge, but I don't mind driving a bit for a good store. Who do y'all like to deal with when it comes to guns? I've been told that I should be careful since some stores like to screw the customer.

How would a store screw a customer on a new gun besides price? You can see prices all day long on a number of websites to know if you are getting a good price or not...

I don't know. That's just what a couple of buddies have told me.

Go to Bowie or Interstate Guns. Avoid Jim's. Also, Sulzer is a great option for AR style rifles and for transfers for any gun you buy online (online is probably the best way to get a good deal in terms of price).

It's actually a good place to put your hands on a wide variety of firearms. You don't have to buy anything.

Interstate guns in Hammond. Very knowledge and offer 0% financing if paid off in a year.

When looking on line, keep in mind there are shipping charges and transfer fees so the deal you think you're getting may not be the case.

I'm a fan of bowies. I like the guys at the gun counter, and the prices are decent. Like someone else said, go to jims to handle a different assortment, but I usually buy from bowies.

I shopped at Interstate for the first time this weekend and was impressed. It was the pricing of an internet site, about the same as Grab-AGun or Bud's, but you got to avoid the FFL fees that come with online purchases. Better pricing for what i got than Academy of Jim's...
