So far I've been on boattrader.com (their app sucks), FB market, ebay motors, and Craigslist.

I'm being very deliberate and slow, not in a rush to buy (will gladly hold off for a year). But it's not the prices that are surprising, it's the lack of selection. Seems like baws are holding on to their boats more.

Side question - you drive by a marina or storage lot and there are boats that haven't moved in 20 years. Who pays for 20 years of storage and what happens when the owner dies or disappears? The boat yard sends it to the landfill?

I tried the hulltruth, if you want a big boat sure. But 22' and under thehulltruth is almost worthless.

I've been using craigslist and just expanding my search. Gulfport, mobile, Pensacola. Seems the further you go into Florida the pricing is way way better and the selection is better.

My main 2 searches are craigslist and fb marketplace.

Used boats aren't moving very quick right. Seems people are holding on to the pricing of the past couple years and I feel like the bottom is about to fall out with this recession.

In 9 months to a year I think boat prices will be much lower unless supplies lines are still very slow.

There are dozens of different boat for sale pages on fb, bunch are specialized to a certain type. Those and doing searches in different areas on marketplace, lots of selection in South Florida. I've been in the market for a big cat 33'+, I gave up for the year, wasn't willing to pay what folks were asking. Betting on prices coming down this winter, we'll see.

I have heard the same about cars and Rolex watches. Not that I am in the market for either, so take this for third-hand news.

I guess, used truck prices are steadily decreasing as well.

Im looking for a 20' boat and have been watching several that would have sold in a few hours last year, just sit and drop the price and its summer.

Try LA Boat Dealer in Metairie. I checked them out recently and they have a nice selection. They are a consignment dealer. They take and store boats on consignment and sell to individuals.

I am seeing more used boats becoming available but haven’t seen any “motivated sellers” yet. Prices are still pretty absurd

Interest rates 9 months ago were 200 basis points lower than now.

No more cash out refi’s to put down on a toy.
ETA: and gas prices are what, $1-2 /gallon more now?

I searched forever, because I refused to pay the absolutely ridiculous prices people have been asking since Covid. FB marketplace was definitely the winner for me.

I found mine on FB marketplace. Easiest thing to do is set up alerts on certain boat makes and models so you'll be notified when they get posted. I was getting notifications in different states I got so desperate

What are you looking for? A 17’ shallow water skiff with a 60 ETec on the back?

Bought a 2013 21’ Frontier 2 years ago off FB. Looked at probably 10-12 different boats until I found one that I felt was worth the asking price. Got it for under 19k then spent a little money upgrading the electronics, gauges, batteries, trolling motor, new bunks, and fenders on the trailer. Does everything I need it to.

I’d look at all the places mentioned, FB, Craigslist, sportsman, 2 cool fishing, etc. Crazy thing is with this market, you have to be ready to jump on one that you like, basically same day.

I just sold my, shed kept, 2015 Ranger RT188, but it sat for sale for 5 months with minimal calls. I was pretty surprised by the lack of interest. Had it on FaceSpace Louisiana Sportsman and another La outdoor website that I can't recall at the moment.
