Kill it and throw it in the water?

Keep it and eat it?
My grandpa carried a club in the boat just in case we hooked one. He killed every one he caught.

Cuss a lot
Try to get my rogue back with pliars while fish is alive while cussing
Beat fish to death and continue trying to get rogue back while still cussing
Finally pull mangled and ruined rogue from dead bloody gar. Power slam dead gar into water with curse words.
ETA: same when trying to recover chartreuse spinnerbait from 10 pound choupique.

Hold line tight in left hand, while administering a right hand karate chop to the snout with boat paddle. Usually the hook flies right out. Works for yoyo's too.

I can't for the life of me get one skint anywhere as close to as fast as that old boy. That screwdriver through the snout is an important part i'm missing. But they are so damn tough, I can't cut them with a cane knife without messing up the meat.
It's a chainsaw for me, my stihl makes short work of them. You have to go from head to tail though, if you go from back to front with the chainsaw, that thing will take off like a rocket.

we had a nize buzz going last spring and hit up gar lake and caught a couple big gar.We had to clean them with garden shears. We fried them up fresh and it was awesome, like big ol chicken tenders.
that being said, i beat the frick out of them with a shovel before i laid a finger on them. those teeth don't look too fun

I usually smash it in the head with a club. Then I throw the floating fish right in front of a boat full of hippies with video cameras.

I'll never understand why people just kill the fish and throw it away. Some of the big gar are older than most people on this board.
