I saw the results from a local bass tournament last weekend where to place in the top 3 you had to catch over 33 pounds. 34 pounds was first place and 33 pounds was second place. When did this fishery start producing bass like this because I don't ever remember it doing this as a kid. Impressive stringers with the top 6 all having over 20#s for five fish stringers.

They were always there. Roaming alone out in the middle of nothing.

Then came FFS.

There are soooo many places in south LA that are huge bass factories but the sons of Jean Lafitte don’t tell where the treasure is buried. And it is understandable. Like fishing salt water and putting in the research and time so you are catching and then find 20 boats crowd you within minutes.

Manchac is not a big bass capital I promise you! I’ve fished many tournaments out of there with boat running to Delacroix. People will run where the fish are.

Used to catch em pretty good out of ruddock launch. Nothing over 2 lbs got in the boat but I lost a 4plus at the boat.
It's not terrible fishing but the bite is definitely unique

That is the standings “after” tournament 5. A cumulative total of all 5 previous tournaments. That isn’t the results from that one day. Look what it says at the very top. Also not every tournament is fished out of manchac. That total could be a combined weight from the pearl river, des allemands, tchefuncte, Delacroix, etc

I’ve only ever caught a bunch of gar and gators chasing me in the yak. I need to go out there and explore around a little more.

Depends on time of year. I fish the run outs off the banks before it gets to out with weightless worms.
Once it gets hot, there are trash piles in deeper water under the interstate the will stack on.

Bite is strange. He don't really hit it. They just suck it in their mouths and start swimming. I usually tighten line and watch if it's swimming between bumping it

Somebody has fished 5 tournaments and their cumulative weight is 4lbs? They may need to find a new hobby.
