Just ordered the rancho adjustable shocks to level mine. Win/win IMO

How much that set you back?
Posted on 12/29/12 at 3:38 pm to Uncle JackD
Your arse drags when you're driving.

320
4 wheel online
Free shipping
Now I can't decide which bumper I want.
Fab Four is what I'm leaning towards. Once I get all that on then I'll know what size tires I can fit. Probably going with duratracs. Why you ask? Bc Goodyear is the official tire of NASCAR
ETA: that's just for shocks. I got the complete assembly for the front. Google rancho quick lift loaded

I think they are fantastic. They're cheap and really don't affect your suspension geometry too much if you don't go over 1.5"
They allow for bigger tires and VASTLY improve the appearance of your truck. Leveling with coil spacers doesn't affect your spring preload or anything and doesn't noticeably alter your ride. The bigger tires will negatively affect your ride quality, but it's a truck. It's supposed to ride a little shitty.

Is it worth the $$, can you really see a big difference?
Definitely, truck looks a lot better IMO.

How does it effect the ride?
Very little I have found

Does it allow one to put bigger tires?
Yes

What are th cons of doing it?
If you put too big of a spacer, it'll cause tires and suspension components to wear out quicker. Go with 2.5" or less
All this said, if I were to do it again and could swing it, I'd get adjustable Bilstein 5100 shocks instead of the spacer

Speaking of loaded trucks, anyone wanna give me a hand here?
Posted on 12/29/12 at 3:58 pm to deaconjones35
Just light it on fire right there

Are those the adjustable coil over rigs or just shocks?
You won't get any height out of just shocks. You just get a stiffer ride

I'd just get a body lift.
Surefire way to make your truck look like shite.

The level is set. Settings on shocks are adjustable. Maintains OEM geometry. That's why I went that route

Just shocks. I've read about them used to level a truck. There's like 3 height settings or something. I'm pretty sure at least. More popular on Tacomas

Truck would still have that forward rake and body lifts look pretty shitty

Body lifts look like garbage.
I counted at least 6 trucks w/ level kits at the boat launch this morning.

When we going fishing? I've got gas and bait. Waiting on 34Venture to take me up on my request. I'll also provide funds for a good time after

Just ordered one for my Tacoma for $75 off of ebay, my buddy is installing for free!

I thought you fished down south? For some reason, I'm wasting my time on my lease with no birds instead of catching trout.

Deacon, are you in Port Allen? That background looks familiar...
And to the OP, go with the spacer kit. If you install an adjustable shock on a coilover suspension, you'll have to get it installed somewhere because you need a heavy duty spring compressor. But if you get the spacer kit, I'm sure there are instructional videos on youtube.
As others have said, stay around 1.5" to 2" to keep from throwing off anything.
After installing, be sure to have your camber and toe checked on your suspension.
Besides that, it looks awesome and maintains a good ride. I would take a spacer lift any day of the week over a stupid arse body lift.
