I got a 125 dollar Lares for Xmas one year.....I wouldn't even use it to prop up the table where my Shrine to Haydels site. Got a DR85 for about 12 bucks in 1987 and that and the Redleg are about the sweetest sounding calls ever!

I have not the slightest clue how to cut it down
Can anyone explain what this means and how to do it for us simple folk?

quote:Cut down the call so it's raspy from low to high, instead of being "ducky" on the low end and screaming high-pitched on the high end, it's raspy all they way through. The old Duck commanders, cut down wood and cut down reacher, ole raspy, and a few other of the older calls have a similar pitch "scale", i.e. raspy from bottom to top as does the Olt, but the Olt has a different sound, if that makes sense. Material is taken off the tone board, no easy way to explain how to do it. The olts are mostly loud as hell, some require air compressor lungs to run.

Search up some youtube vids baw for a listen.

I've got Audio files of TKR. I just play them over my Bluetooth speakers. You guys should see the backflips ducks do when they hear his calling

T-1 lares and a couple custom primos wenches. Running that Lares requires a completely different air pressure than any single reed I've ever blown, but once you figure it out, its money. About time to order some new reeds

all day long. I couple it with a 6-in-1 whistle and it's all I need.

3 pages and nobody has mentioned corn.

Thanks for the reply. You can also tone your duck calls by putting an oring over the reed and moving it back and forth to get different tones.
