I too am on team Porter Cable just because of the reliability I’ve seen from their products.

My friend has a dual action polisher that is 12 years old that he used to run his detailing business for 7 years. The thing still runs like a top.

I personally have the drill, impact, and sawzall from Porter Cable. The impact has been run over by Ms Bapple with her Jeep Cherokee and it hasn’t skipped a bit. She didn’t run over it on purpose but the tool’s durability impressed me.

Can’t go wrong with any reputable brands though.

Been installing cabinets and I'd say the one you can afford to get 2 of so you don't have to keep changing bits.

I've been getting more into wood working over the past few months and need to upgrade my drill soon. I have a craftsman that's about 10 years old that' still working on, but I want to get something nicer soon.

If your drill still works, I'd stick with it. Use the money to buy more woodworking tools. I've been using a Ryobi drill and circular saw kit I bought from Direct Tools at Tanger in 2011ish. Drill works great and circular saw is iffy, but they are both reconditioned. If you go to Direct Tools just check for square on the saws before purchasing. I just realized three years later why a corded saw I bought always gave me trouble. I also purchased a Rigid impact driver that is a beast.

They want you to believe that 60volt flex option now is more powerful than a 20. In reality it’s not. Just last longer. Listen I sell tools to guys that beat the shite out of them. Our lines are makita, Bosch, dewalt and Milwaukee. These new dewalts I see coming back in less than a year. They just don’t stand up. For one I think their are too many options for drivers from them. People think they are getting a drill made to last when they are really just buying junk because of price point.

Bosch makes a solid tools, but you are going to pay for them.

I have not seen any problems with makita, but I’ll be honest most customers I talk to view it as a weekend warriors drill.

I push Milwaukee because the tools never come back and more often than not they have a decent promo going on. Hell right now I’m giving away 2 free batteries on top the ones that come with the kits plus 100 bucks off.

They just make a better tool imo.

We started off with Bosch 12 years ago for impacts and drills. We switched to Makita about 5 years ago. I liked the power and the lighter weight of the Makita vs the Bosch. 2 years ago, we started transitioning to Milwaukee. We have about 30 each of the Milwaukee and Makita drills and impacts out in the shop now. Whether one is better than the other, is all in the eye of the beholder. The Milwaukee M18 5AH batteries seem to hold their charge better than the Makitas though. Also, we have noticed a problem with with slipping chucks in the Makitas. The SO likes the Milwaukee M12 the best for the house because of the ergonomics in the handle and the weight. My guys are HARD on cordless tools and these things get worked 10 hours a day 5 days a week.

I've had the same 18V lithium drill/driver set for 7 years with no issues.

This.

I've had the same craftsman cordless I got as a gift for the past 15 years, only had to replace one battery and the charger. Otherwise it works great. I look at new drills when i see deals but I just can't bring myself to replace it. I spend the money on new tools instead

The Makita 18v subcompacts are the best driver/drill out right now. Plenty of power, take tons of abuse, and weigh almost nothing.

I have a 2005 dewalt that I breathed new life into by getting the 20v Li batteries.

I also have a Makita set, a Milwalkee set and a Ryobi set.

Milwaukee just for work, Makita for backup.
Ryobi for house and dewalt as back up.

My Porter Cable was forgotten in a tree for 10 days and two rains and after oiling the chuck it’s still going strong.

DeWalt doesn't sell a drill/driver that runs on 60V. The comparable tools that do, like the circular and reciprocating saws, absolutely have way more power than the 20V models. Night and day difference. You should know this if you are selling them.

Milwaukee is owned by AEG, same factories pump out Ryobi and Craftsman brand tools. They aren't nearly as good as they used to be.

I like my Rigid set, they are on the heavy side but Rigid warrants their batteries. They also charge in a half hour.

There may be other brands with the same features but I haven’t researched since 2011 when I bought the Rigids.

Bosch, all day every day.

Replaced a dependable Dewalt with Bosch and I've never looked back.
