Well since I don’t have academy up here I’d like to throw Scheel’s into the mix.

They’ve come a long way in that last couple years. They’ll even price match anybody. I buy pretty much everything there.

Academy by far. I love walking around Bass Pro, but actually buy stuff at Academy.

Sportsmans warehouse in Slidell seems to have a great selection.

I never go to academy anymore. They Never have anything I’m looking for. I live in Slidell so I go to sportsman’s warehouse for shooting/hunting and gus’ on old Spanish trail for fishing.

I buy most of my stuff online now. If I’m going to buy in a store it’s Bass Pro. Academy’s archery selection is made up of junk.

Academy is my favorite. Field and stream is my least favorite.

Not a big box store but I went into Halloway outdoors in pineville to pick up some rods and that place is awesome.

Cut rate tackle dba Fishing Tackle Unlimited.

I use to like Jumbo Sports, Fred Parnells The Sport Shop that sold Louisiana Travelers, and Stienberg’s.

Went to Fishing Tackle Unlimited for the first time a month ago while I was in Houston for the weekend. Their rod section alone was incredible. Plus they had great fly gear in addition to the regular tackle. I'd be in trouble if they had one in N.O.

It is alittle higher priced than Academy.
After the hurricane I bought 3 of the nicer frog tog raincoats for $24 each that can fold into a pouch.
They also have rod building supplies. Mudhole is a lot less expensive. The difference is when you are there they got it instock and you don’t have to wait weeks to get it in.

This May they had the blow out sale where they had old school lures on sale. It was in the tent next to the store and they also had clearance stuff. I had to stop and stocked up on lures I have not seen since the 1980’s. They had the old school floating lizards which never mind guy I don’t use them anymore in the spillway.

Well for most general towns we go with Academy.

Simmons in Bastrop is fire make a trip every year when time allows.

But the best kept secret in Louisiana is some small stores in Many, Leesville, and DeQuincy called Nichols Dry Goods. You will not find a more vast variety of quality products packed into a small store that most would drive right past.
I NEVER miss the opportunity to stop in when I'm in those towns.

Pretty much middle of town. Love that place. The kind of store you would raid if the SHTF.

Leave your wife at home. reason is twofold: you can buy whatever you like AND you can get out of the store in a reasonable amount of time.

If I bring the wife, im not getting out of there in under an hour.

Our only two choices here are Sportsmans and Cabelas.

Sportsmans by a mile. First it's a utah company, so for me, I get the convenience of big box and can still feel like I'm buying local. Second since cabelas stopped making the leather ski gloves I liked, and did away with their free RV dump, there's nothing there that I can't get elsewhere. They are usually a little higher on their prices as well.

I've always wanted to stop at the flagship store in Sydney on our cross country drives. The timing has never worked out tho.

My wife is usually begging me to leave. That's how much time I need in there.
