I grew up camping and so did my woman. I'd like to now get into it as an adult. I want to start small to make sure we enjoy it and because I'm inexperienced. Any tips or recommendations? What's your setup?

I started out with a 29 foot aluminum framed bumper pull by KZ. Right around the time we had our second child we stepped up to a 32 foot 5th wheel (wildcat by forest river). I liked that i had the bed to pack things in with the bumper pull but the 5th wheel tows much better also the 5th wheel is much taller which can be a problem from time to time. I would suggest a bunkhouse model if you have little ones. If i get another RV it will be a toy hauler.

Started with a pop up but moved to a bigger trailer soon after. We have 2 kids and we like long vacations. Pop up was too small for longer vacations. Now have a 2015 36' Flagstaff bunkhouse bumper pull. Love camping and making good memories with the kids.

I started with a 27' 5th Wheel & now have a 34' 5th wheel. I'm actually thinking about downsizing because after I build the farmhouse that I have planned, I'm not sure I'll be using it for anything besides tailgating at football games.

32' KZ Sportsmen bunkhouse. Outdoor kitchen is a must use mine every time I go camping. 2 exterior doors one going to living room one going to bathroom is convenient when having big gatherings also.

36' Montana 5th wheel now. I started with a 10 year old bumper pull but got the 5th wheel because I am going to retire in 1-2 years and my wife and I plan to travel while she works travel assignments.

Started with 26' Springdale by Summerland. Had the bunks but no slide out. We used it a lot so we sold it and bought a 32' Dutchmen Aspen Trail BHS. It has a super slide and much more room than before. 4 kids with the mrs and me was a bit too cramped in our other one.

Towing tip: research what your vehicle can tow and dont tap it out.

Keystone Outback 31' double slide bumper pull. Has outdoor kitchen, bunk beds in back and two entry doors. We have had 10 of us, 6 adults/4 kids multiple times. It is tight with that many but works. Does 4 adults/4 kids comfortably.

I've had a class B, class C, and a couple of class A diesel pusher rigs. My child is gone now and we have dropped back to a Scamp 5th wheel and enjoy it very much.

Both style of campers have their pros and cons. With the motorhomes I either had to pull a car of had no way to go once we got to the campground, with the trailer my wife can't go potty while we are going down the road and I have to stop every couple of hours or so.

Take a look around, talk to people, and then make your choice.

One word of caution, every camper I've had with a rubber roof has leaked. From now on I will only have a camper with a one piece fiberglass roof.

For you guys with leaky rubber roofs, a buddy of mine installs a spray on roof with lifetime guarantee. He's in Houma. Pretty cool product.

We "camp" in a 40' diesel pusher. Need to get a towable vehicle. Major pain to have to follow in a sepetate car or be stuck without one.
