When I was a kid and used to fish for bream with my grandpa. He told me to softly "plop" the bobber down in the water to let the fish know I was there.

Always seemed to work and I catch myself doing it now when fishing with my son.

What's a good piece of fishing advice you've received?

It’s not the size of your bait, it’s how you wiggle your worm

You won't catch any fish if you don't have a hook in the water.

I tell this to my nephew all the time who just waits for other people to catch fish, or my kayaker buddies who don't troll when going spot to spot. Just keep a dang bait in the water y'all!

I'm in the Florida panhandle and we don't have reds like Louisiana. I've had several outings where trolling a paddletail behind the kayak was the only thing that kept me from getting shut out. It's not as fun catching them that way but they eat the same.

I cant ever remember the saying about the cows.
Is it if they're under the trees , the fish aren't biting? Or the other way around?

My grandfather had a similar saying..."if we were fishing for squirrels we would have brought nuts for bait."

Hardest thing to do is catch someone else’s fish.

Enjoy the time on the water, especially now that I take my boys this is especially true.
