I'm a member of the NRA, but I really dont pay close attention to it. Can anyone shed some light on the feud between Ollie North and LaPierre? I think North resigned...

This.

And I'm a Life Member. (Wish I had that money back - LaPierre probably spent it on clothes or hookers).

I finally quit supporting them after doing it for many years. They are responsible for spreading more fear and propaganda than even the “Zion controlled liberal media.” According to the NRA, G-men are outside of your house ready to burst in and take your guns. Also, the number of emails that they inundate your inbox with is absolutely ridiculous.

If it weren’t for my basic pistol certification from them to teach, I’d just be a GOA member. They have a backbone and don’t make any concessions whatsoever. I’d recommend changing your membership if you have the means.

Don't know what the hell their issue is in their inner workings but obviously it's big.

I still agree at the core of what they stand for but they've blown through massive vaults of money and are now under heavy attack from globalist dims. The timing is perfect to cause a major problem for the NRA.

Seems that wholesale changes in leadership need to be made, or they're going to go under. I still have three years left on a 5 year membership but I won't be renewing if they continue the gross mismanagement of direction and funds.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is GOA? Quick Google search shows a tourist destination...

Second Amendment Foundation is the actual legal heavy hitters, they brought about the Heller and McDonald cases.

Let me explain something that should be painfully obvious but some of you are missing, because you really don't get the bigger picture here: the NRA is the 800lb gorilla that groups like GOA, SAF, FPC, and many others need to be as effective as they are. The NRA draws a lot of fire, sometimes deservedly, and that allows groups like the SAF to bring cases before the courts without the media (and therefore the attention of oppositional legislatures) scrutiny that the NRA would get. Withdrawing support from ANY of these groups is myopic, narrow-minded, self-important grandstanding by those that may as well call up Ladd Everitt and ask how they can donate to the VPC or whatever group of GVP shitheads he is currently spooning money from.

From what I can gather there were warring factions within the NRA. North lost, Lapierre won. They’re blowing extravagant sums of money, but North wasn’t blameless. I read he was compensated $1M for his tenure as president. This is where my opinion starts: they’ve had a money printing business for years and have spent as such. I’m keeping a basic membership, that’s it.

They left their core values in search of political power. Used to be about educating the masses on guns and creating programs to educate youth. Now its just a propaganda organization that really doesn't do a lot to help responsible gun owners.

It’s true, the NRA has gotten increasingly political. That being said, hasn’t our country gotten increasingly political as well? Bakeries and same sex wedding cakes, business owners displaying their political stances, etc. I can’t imagine the hunting/shooting/sporting industry without the NRA. It has its faults, and perhaps they’d be better served getting back to their roots....... I just don’t think today’s divisive political environment is going to allow it. So we press on, looking for the lesser of the evils presented to support.
