Going to try and trap a opossum and was wondering what the best bait is. Will any food work just fine?

When my father-in-law was alive he had a feral cat that would spend time outside his house and he took to putting out some dry cat food in the evenings for it and I saw many nights a possum would eat what the cat didn't.

So, dry cat food should work fine.

I always baited my dog-proof coon traps with the cheapest dry cat food I could find and caught way more possums than coons

Trout bellies work the best for us.

Literally anything will catch them. I'm fairly sure you can thrown an unset, unbaited trap in the bed of your truck and a possum will find a way to get into it.

Marshmallows work good on raccoons and possums and you won’t catch any cats.

I’ve caught plenty on a Scoop filled with peanut butter, or crunch berries mixed with peanut butter.
