If people were serious about eradicating hogs, they'd push for banning hog hunting. Hunters/Hog Hunting might be the biggest reason that the hog population has grown as fast as it has. At least in Texas.

To keep an economy from growing around it and giving people an incentive to have them around? I think a few states that don't have feral hogs have preemptively done this.

I saw less than 20 deer and only 2 bucks all last season at my lease near Sikes. Have seen no bucks this year.

if you're seeing that many does to bucks, why kill more bucks than does?

Yes. At the very least, make it illegal to transport live hogs. That's a no brainer. We've got guys in my county that have brought in hogs to keep their hog hunting business going.

Just tell a Louisiana hunter they can only kill 3 hogs. They will instantly want to kill 15 hogs per year to “survive”

Let the state manage the population, let landowners manage for age.

I agree. The Texas hog hunters showed where they stand when the warfarin bait was being trialed a few yrs back.

Maybe should’ve been more clear. Didn’t mean doe to buck ratio was 20-2. I saw less than 20 deer all season, many of which no doubt were the same deer. There just seems to be a very low deer density on this property.

If I'm going to wear Sitka gear then I have to kill at least 15 because I can't afford food for my family.

It makes no sense to ban it. Just ban the transport (TX/LA already have, as another poster already pointed out), and ban the ability to charge people to hunt them.

Take the economics out of it, or at least move the economics from hunting to trapping and killing. Put a bounty on those suckers.

2 bucks, 4 does

Bucks minimum 12 inch spread.

Kill them all in a morning for all I care.

All deer at deer processor must be accompanied by validation tags.

I'd be fine with this. I've killed 9 so far this year just while taking long walks alone with my thoughts. They are out of control.

Area 4 in LA reduced down to 3 deer. 1 buck, 1 doe, and 1 either

I can only speak for north Mississippi and west Tennessee, but up here there are so many deer everywhere.

I can't imagine cutting the limits.

I live out in the county (as far out of Memphis as I can and still be in Shelby county). Last Tuesday on my way home from work I saw probably 100 deer. Around 50-60 of those were in Shelby Farms (Shelby Farms is an absolutely huge park here in Memphis). The rest were out in the county. They are everywhere and way over populated. It's rare that I drive to or from work (about 15 miles one way) that I don't see at least 4-5. I saw 7-8 this morning.

What is the deal with y’all wanting the deer limit reduced? I hunt Louisiana every year and there is no shortage of deer. Quite the opposite really.

I would love to hear your reasoning for this.

Because they think a lower limit will increase the quality of the deer. Or that "you don't need 6 deer, so why should we be able to shoot 6?" Nevermind the fact that it's not about how many you need, but rather about what the population can support and likely needs to keep the numbers at a level the habitat can support.

In my opinion, we don't have the habitat quality to leave more deer on the landscape and grow bigger deer.
