I use to get New Balance but I have been out of running for some time.

Hoka Bondi
This is my current jogging shoe. They are great for easy running but a little on the cushy side.

Last time I sprinted I was in Hey Dudes; that was just a bunch of neighbors racing each other at the suggestion of a 13 year old. I beat everyone but the German Shephard and the 13 year old but I do not recommend them for running.

I was an avid NB fan but kept wearing them out too quick, bought a pair of Mizuno and am loving them so far.

They are little more expensive but should last longer.

I walk 2.4 miles daily

I tried all of the expensive ones; Brooks, Hokas, onclouds. Ended up going back to a $60 pair of Asics and I rather them.

I bought the Hoka Clifton 9's when the 10's came out since they raised the heel drop in the 10's to 8mm. Prefer the 5mm drop of the 9's. Happy with them.

online advice from random people regarding running shoes isnt going to be tremendously helpful. i run in Brooks Adrenaline because i overpronate and it has big arch supports. but someone who doesnt overpronate woudlnt want to use them. everyone's foot strikes the ground differently, so there are multiple different styles. go to a running specialty store and they will examine your stride and make several recommendations based on that, and you can go from there.

but as far as brand names, generally speaking Brooks, Asics, Hokas, Saucony are all pretty widely recognized as good quality.

Good advice.....generally speaking. I'll explain later. I've been running (now walking after arthroscopic knee surgery) pretty continuous since 25 years. Early on, I had an episode of plantar fasciitis. Had to take off 6 months for it to resolve. Before I started back running, I went to a running store in Shreveport. I explained my needs to a young, pretty female salesman. She came out w/ many pairs of shoes to try. I put n the first pair and she said, "Isn't that a pretty color." I asked for a different salesman and got a grizzled looking 30ish guy who cared less about color. Ended up w/ a pair of Asics. Wore the same model of Asics until just recently. I usually get a new pair at 300-350 miles, but the last 2 pairs of Asics wore out LONG before that. Now I'm wearing a pair of Sketchers. They seem ok, although they're not a "pretty" color. I've not had anymore plantar fasciitis ever since.

This web page has a lot of good info.

Check out this page and figure out your degree of pronation

Been my go to for the past decade. Currently have the Lone Peak 9+ and I couldn't be happier.
Like you said, wide toe bed is great.
