I just did a deep dive yesterday because I'm about to buy a new one.

I swear the 30-06 is the best all around caliber there is. I've always shot one but wanted something more trendy like a 7mag or 300, for whitetail and anything else the 06' is it.

Plus it's easy to find ammo

Benelli LUPO .30-.06 instead of .308. I've never understood why those short mags haven't been more popular. Lack of availability is the only reason I don't have .300 WSM.

Factory take offs

You could buy a takeoff barrel in any magnum barrel you want and swap your 270 wsm. I’d probably hunt down a 6.5 prc barrel or buy a 7mm prc barrel. I have a semi sentimental 270wsm that I’ll probably swap barrels to a 6.5 prc when it’s toast.

You could also just go buy another tikka. They are cheaper than normal right now. I got a stainless 6.5 creed shipped to my ffl for $740 and they have a $75 rebate going on.

6.5 prc
is it going to stick around? I would be scared in 10 years it'll go the same direction as the WSM family

I forgot the wsms are regular magnum bolt faces. .300 win mag solves all the availability issues. 300 wsm is still well available I think.

I’d buy a Winchester M70 Safari Express in .375 H&H

That’s a hell of a price for a great rifle

I would think 6.5 PRC will be around, the hornady marketing machine is behind it now.

270 wsm was killed by browning/winchester when they decided to improve it with a 6.8 western, which will also fade into obscurity at some point because they burned all the rifle manufacturers with 270 wsm.

You can buy 300 win mag and 7 rem mag take off barrels on eBay for $100 with zero rounds on them, I’d probably go that route if I didn’t want something special.

The only problem is it's only available in some stores and not available to ship to address

Sorry, I just responded to the title.

For your question I’d jump on that CA Mesa while it’s on sale.

I didn't realize Winchester got popped for patent infringement on the whole WSM batch and agreed to pay royalties on new rifles and ammo a few years back

I probably would let it due out too.

the Winchester XPR can go toe to toe with the tikka t3/3x, it’s a pretty much just a great value x bolt.

Browning/winchester at whatever price point you wanted would be a slam dunk if they would just make a trigger that could get with the times.

Better hope you never have an issue with it.

that’s a fair point, I’ve not shot one yet, or messed with the trigger on one, but I’m not looking for a 1.5# trigger pull on a beater deer rifle either
