Other than that, do what you’re told and don’t bitch and you’ll be fine.

I fish with the same Capt every time I go to Destin. He has had the same deckhand the last several trips. He is a good dude but you can tell when he has tied one on the night before. Capt also gives him hell about it. However, being young, single, some decent money from tips in your pocket, and in Destin would make it tough for me to not be out slaying poon till all hours of the night.

Captain George Gill.

He is the full time captain for a sport fisher down there but also captains out of other peoples boats everynow and then.

Before I got to the "already signed on" part, I was going to recommend to get drunk, get a really trashy girlfriend and get a tattoo.

I guess I didn't get the memo because I'm still at it at 47.

I have fished the last two weeks 3-4 days a week in Hopedale.

Who would downvote this?

But how is the fishing and where? I just got my boat back to port there and desperately trying to find time to go.

Good deal. Supposed to be a good company to work for. Enjoy and learn as much as you can.

Pay attention to the guys with long term experience in the facilities you work in, be they operators, technicians, mechanics, etc. They may not get the terminology exactly right or have a proper understanding of the science behind how their stuff works (they also may have it all exactly right) but if you pay attention you can learn a lot of invaluable things from those guys. They understand the practical aspects of much of what makes things function there.

My BSME is from USL but it has given me the ability to better my family financially provided an avenue to work in a field that I love and am very good at, control systems. Your degree can be a vehicle to better days and great things.

Good Luck, and enjoy your time as a deckhand

I enjoy prepping for hunting and fishing and putting in work almost as much as I like the actual hunting and fishing.

I’ve grown up doing manual labor so I’ve grown to enjoy it and weirdly enjoy it more the harder it is.

If I got to go back to your current position, I'd fish every day and chase pussy every night until it was time to go to work.

Enjoy life while you can. Before you know it you’ll have a wife, mortgage, 1.5 kids, car note, and responsibility. You’ll sit in your office on your off days and dream of when you used to have time to do stuff like go fishing.

The money just doesn’t quite compare to a desk job for manual labor. I’ve got too many expensive hobbies.

And no I’ve fished with this guy once before it’s a colluded relationship but I’ve gotten to fish on this boat out of grand isle before on invite and me being interested I tried my best to help as much as I could and learn what I could without getting too much in the way. I guess he doesn’t mind talking to me too much and doesn’t mind having some cheap help for a few weeks.
