This has probably been discussed but we used to limit out pretty regular at Fesnthal (we used to slaughter them), beouf, creole etc etc

I know a bunch of hunters and they say they barely see a limit in a morning now.

Did the planting up north change ?
Lease Money changed something ?

Our habitat is down. Our pressure is up.
Up north habitat is way up.

Hunted Venice today. Fired one shot the whole hunt... It’s sickening and no one else I know did any better than me. Best report I heard was 6 teal.

They are slow to arrive, like the cold weather...

Felsenthal is better on dry years. Last year, the people I know that hunt there were wacking them every day. The big rains we had a week or so before the season this year scattered ducks all over the place.

So do you think they’ll ever move the season back a week or two to accommodate the climate?

Duck hunting will become a thing of the past in Louisiana... I’ve never seen a first split this bad...

Season isn’t getting pushed back.

Best hope is people quit hunting ducks up north and that farming practices change back to tilled grounds

The Midwest is also really wet this year and that moisture has delayed crop cutting

Sky nets up north keeping the ducks out of Louisiana. You should know that, baw.

On a serious note it has everything to do with Midwest folks changing there farming methods.

Also, I’d love it if they pushed duck season back 2 weeks.

Not sure why people still spend absurd amounts of money to duck hunt.

This went town as the worst first split for us in 28 years.....

....by far.

And blue wing teal saved what little count we have.

Taking the last 10 seasons into consideration. I really feel duck leases, DU memberships, and overall revenue generated from Duck Hunting in Louisiana is about to take a big hit South of ALexandria by 2025. There is no justification for keeping a $5000 blind anymore. Id take the 1990's back all day every day compared to today.

People still kill the piss out of them in Felsenthal, Upper Ouachita, Overflow and Cutoff. You just have to been willing to put forth the effort to do so. I'm not.

Can you please be a little more dramatic?

From go we knew the duck numbers were down. Also, there are terribly wet conditions up north and a late winter. chill.

19 out of 30 days in November had mornings with below average temperatures.
Including 4 freezes (some of south La has had 5-6 freezes).

21 out of 30 days in November had high temperatures below average.

How much colder you want it?

Two days we hit double digits, the next best day was 5, with some 3's and 2's scattered in between the goose eggs. And we had plenty of goose eggs. And now we head to the second split where the last 20 years we haven't killed shite. Glad my hunting is relatively free.

It's not the weather down here dude. It is the weather up north.

Freezes were broke up. Need some prolonged cold weather to move them with all the water up north. 2-3 days at a time of freezing temps is not going to do any good.

Omaha, Nebraska

20 out of 30 days below average lows (got below 15 degrees 5 times)

Bismarck, North Dakota

16 out of 30 days below average lows.

My point is that weather is not the issue this year. We had below average November temps.
And we rarely have more than a 2-3 day freeze in Louisiana.
