I will keep big reds, sheephead, big croakers and sometimes big gafttop.

Have been tempted to keep a stingray to try him out, but haven’t done that yet.

Yep, I grew up on Goo.
My pawpaw would cook that on the bone with a tomato gravy and shrimp.

I like gar too. Made a redfish and shrimp sauce piquant with gar boulletes last week.

ETA- small collarbone cats are some great eating

I'm curious. How many of you guys that answered Gou are from families that came out of Avoylles Parish? My dad was born in Mansura and loved a smothered Gou. I caught a nice Gou a while back and could not come up with a recipe. I finally found one in a little known cookbook that was recipes from Avoylles Parish. I know people outside of there eat Gou, but was wondering if that's where the recipe originated.

Did it once.
It's good but it's not your traditional fish fillet.

ETA: Also, not worth getting hit with a barb

I threw away several gaftops yesterday. Do they taste like regular catfish?

Taste is fine, always found the meat a tad mushy though.
