I've found the best solution for fire ants thats cost advantageous is Permethrin. Its normally used for fly and termite control on and around horses and cattle but if you mix it a little strong it will wipe out red ants. Kills entire mound in less than 4-6 hours. Just mix in round up sprayer.

Fipronil is what you need. It’s a broad spectrum insecticide that you may be able to purchase but I’m not sure. Taurus is one of the brand names. You can order online. Spray now and ants go away for a year

This is what I use.

It costs a lot less than Amdro and does the same job.

I put down talstar granules twice a year.

Talstar works great but is pricey. Generic version is 'Bifen'. Sprinkle some on an ant mound and they will all die. Spread around your yard to eliminate ants (and other critters).

Iv used a couple different retail grade season long granules. Apply once or two CS per year. I haven’t had fire ants ?? n my yard I. The last 23 years I’ve been using it. But they’ll build mounds in my neighbor’s yard since he does’t use it.

it works really well in my opinion. the few mounds that pop up get treated with it and they never come back. i also spread a little bit around the perimeter of the house to keep em away

Surrender works every time. Careful it you have dogs though, they may come back to you looking like scarface...

Also, if you have access with a hose you can buy the spectracide Triazicide. I've used it for years and have had no bugs in the yard

Take a shovel full from one mound and dump it on another. Rinse, repeat, enjoy the carnage.
