Incredible weekend out of Dulac

No sooner had we got bait from the bait boat on Saturday, boat I was in broke down. We anchored behind a platform, alerted water patrol of the situation, jumped in our friends boat and proceeded to fish. With 5 people fishing we ended up with 110 specks along the beach. Other boats we were with caught around 40/ea.

We back yesterday and caught 85 specks, and 1 red. These were much bigger, we were barely able to close the 94qt ice chest. Seem like they bit equally good on artificial as they did live bait.

Friend ended up taking a kahle hook to the scalp. He was casting, hit his head with the line, didn’t think anything of it, reeled in to see his hook was gone. Thought he was cut by a mackerel or something, just retied and continued to fish, about 30 minutes later he went to scratch his head and felt the hook sitting there. It was in there super deep so there wasn’t any way we would be able to get it out. So we just left it in, and when we got back to the city he went and had it cut out.

Memorable weekend for sure.

Surf fished Grand Isle Saturday morning solo. Beautiful morning. The water wasn't as clean as it was last week but the fish were there. Had my 25 trout by 8:15. Didn't have to measure a fish.

There were a few "scavengers" on the beach trying to come up when I was re-tying and whatnot but I think I burned a hole through them with my eyes and they stopped.

Did you happen to post your pics on Facebook? Know a guy that soloed Saturday and did exactly what your saying. If so I may know you.

That little dude has the looks of a young man afflicted with the fishing addiction! Good for you dad....the only down side is he will surpass you quick and you're footing the bill as long as he is on the payroll!

Pro tip of f the day: gaftop actually taste ok. One of my sons caught a pretty big one and asked/begged to keep it. Nasty, slimy bastards but I gave in. He also pleaded to cook it......unpleasant cleaning but damned if it was pretty good. But deep frying could make a brick taste Well

Gafftop are pretty good eating if you can get past the "stigma"...used to be common in fish markets in the panhandle of Florida and around Tampa...probably not so any more but back in the '70s they were pretty common site at fish markets....they are identical to blue or channel cats, only nastier to clean.

I’ve kept them before and cooked some. They’re as good As any other catfish you’ll eat if ya cut out the blood. Just gotta hose em off before cutting on them.

We burned their arse up Friday in and around Grand Isle, Elmers.

We did our best fishing Saturday and Sunday morning along Fourchon. Ended up running to the long set along Belle Pass but actually fished on top of the old short set that are no longer visible.

Was hoping to make a quick trip bass fishing because I’m a little burned out but me, my brother and nephew may come fish on yalls side of the state Kemo.

I bought that CC I was showing a couple weeks ago and I’ve been floored with how that boat handles. That was a steal of a deal. Cleaned the hull up good and will be buying a 225 4 stroke like you suggested. Dealer is willing to give me a good deal to buy that Merc that’s currently on it.

no CP3 on boat I'm assuming.

We had limits of the endangered ARS, 8-9 specks, 20 green trout. Gafftops love matrix shads with 4 horse corks. Deadly combo
