Ran a four boat trip Friday morning with light NE wind and two in my boat. Water was stained heading south in lake so I gambled and went south since it was a half day. It took 30 min to find the fish on the reef and we didn’t move much until 10:00. Half caught on opening night and half on crickets, 28 solid trout. Bugged to find reds which didn’t happen, total haul; 28, 18, 12, 10.
Saturday brought NE winds at double the speed and very stained west cove water. Found a slow but consistent bite of acceptable fish, left with 9 all on crickets under corks. Second stop off channel we put our balance of 33 in the boat with opening night and crickets.
Saturday afternoon really sucked, fished until 7:30 for 11 trout but 9 were 2#+.
It was not a weekend for catching numbers and many struggled for single digits but I would rather be lucky than good.
Hope the OB Baws had solid fishing.

Was about the same out of Hopedale last week, hit our usual spots and had to move to find them. No limits but enough to eat this week and did get some nice smaller reds, my favorite to catch on light tackle.

Anytime I'm on the water is a good time.

Ran out of shell beach to deeper water. Long trip bur finally found the elusive red snapper and mangroves. Mangrove’s were skittish yesterday.

Turned a workday into a fishing trip yesterday on our lease in delacroix after the boat broke down. Was stranded out there for about 7 hours but we managed to catch about 10 redfish and my buddy caught a catfish on a spoon.

Wait, you’re using crickets under corks for specs?

Do us a favor, start a new thread and give details on when and how to do a wade trip there. Member a La sportsman show on these islands maybe ten years ago. Wading turns my crank and cocodrie is way closer than chandeliers.

Trout bite in NE Biloxi Marsh was slow, had to work for them but almost all of them were >18". Jumped a tarpon on topwater, but he threw the bait after 5 seconds. Pretty cool to see though.

I'm not much of a freshwater fisherman these days, but me and little man caught a few solid bass yesterday evening. He won big fish of the day awards with a real nice one.

I was an invited guest on the trip so I don’t know if I’m the right guy to lay it out. I rarely wade outside of occasionally front beach in MS. This was the first trip of its kind for me. The guy who “runs” this trip is an 86 year old dr who has been wade fishing out of there for decades.

The gist is head to the barrier islands like Timbalier, Last island, Wine, callou boca, etc... We ran south and then east and west hitting different beaches or bars. The wind dictates which side you wade. Looking for the better water. One spot was an old island with basically nothing left but a sandbar and a few old mangrove stems. He told me the places to fish disappear more every year. The way they do it is throw live minnows on a Carolina rig and drag them back on the bottom. They have it down to a system. They catch incredible numbers including limits regularly. One really interesting thing about this weekend was from the almost 200 trout I think there were 3-4 throwback early the first day and then all keepers. Day 2 the trout were really nice.

It was. I fish from a bay boat or kayak so riding to the islands in a catamaran and hopping in the water was a whole new world to me.
