Wanting to buy a new gun, but undecided on what. Help needed.

I've got a little play money put back that is burning a hole in my pocket and I'm wanting to get a new gun. Price range around $800. Ya'll help me put myself in the doghouse by buying something that I dont need. I think I know what I want, but just in case I'm wrong I want a list of what would be a good buy. I'm big into preparing for disaster (one second after type stuff).

Just to have fun with. I dont CC as of yet and I have a couple that could be used whenever I do decide to get my license.

For fun you need nothing smaller than .44 mag. Preferably at least a .454 casul

Definitely get the ruger 1911 then if you don't have a 1911 already. You won't be disappointed

I've got a tactical 10/22 already and .22 ammo is non-existent.
Has anybody been by Academy lately to see what they have on the shelves? I haven't stopped in one in a few months because it's a mad house in sporting goods everytime I go.
