KR is as well as a well known 1911 fan a big Benelli fan. If you aren't aware Beretta and Benelli are made by the same company.

Yeah I'm well aware of KR and his gayness for 1911's and benelli. He gives me crap all the time about my love for Beretta's. Yes beretta own's Benelli and several other companies.

It's sad but this is true. I've seen a few now in the field, all terrible; there's just so many other better options at comparable price point. Benelli has really taken hold of the pump in that ballpark price range with the Nova's. They're nothing fancy but it seems like most find that they go boom and hold up. Pretty good all-around use gun, good luck

I kinda understand the negativity towards Remington. I bought an 870 a few weeks ago...right off the bat I had extraction issues...but I found out theres a minor machining error right inside the chamber opposite the extractor. Took a dremel and smoothed it out and its all good, put 100 rounds through it with not one jam.

You should be OK with your 870. No, they're not your grandfather's 870 of old. Still nearly identical design just seems that they don't assemble with as much quality (whether in the process or materials) anymore. Just don't know what's up with that 887......

bought one for my son about 3 yrs ago. I think its the ultra mag 870,camo that shoots 2 3/4-3 1/2 shells. Extraction issues right off the bat. My cop buddy who is also an armorer worked on it and it runs good now. I shoot a benelli super nova and have never had an issue with it.

Honestly, go to Jim's, LAsportsman, or any other place where they sell used guns and find you a used old 870. I'm talking at least 10-15 years old. You'll find one for like $300-400 and those things are built solid. It doesn't put any more cash towards Remington as a company if that's your schtick and it's a very well built gun for the money.

The new A5 operating system is the same as the Benelli SBE except it has one or two extra lugs.

Browning even said as much.
