Except the A5 was the first mass produced semi-auto shotgun. You mean more like Benelli copied the concept of recoil/inertia operation?

A5 combines the inertia action made popular by Benelli with the square-backed receiver profile of the Auto-5.

Nothing in that article even comes close to insinuating that it's a Benelli knock off. You're making it sound like: 1) This operation was all Benelli's idea and that 2) The new A5 is exactly the same as the Benelli except for 2 lugs and that they added the back hump styling

Anyway, Maxus>A5>SBEII

I'm liking this one. The reviews look good. But the reviews for the 2000 look terrible. For $550 I'm considering.

Even before the new A5's came out, people still referred to the Auto 5 as an "A5" or "A-5".

I'll be honest. I'm a big Browning man, so it's a sensitive subject for me (and no, I don't have a huge Browning decal on my front windshield).

If you disassemble the new A5 you can see that the internals are identical to Benelli. Some of the parts even look like they will interchange.

Browning and Benelli are my favorites, but the new A5 is a Benelli with different styling and no ComfortTech recoil reduction system. I see no compelling reason to chose it over the Benelli other than maybe nostalgia.

I have a Browning Gold 3.5 that I love. I've put so many cases of 3.5s through that gun and no real problems.

But my last 2 shotguns are and SBE2 and the Super Vinci. They are both great guns but I really love that Vinci.
