2WD 4 cylinder. Runs great. My son will keep driving it. We considered getting him a newer one for a graduation gift when he graduated from LSU in December. Now I'd like to just get him out of the house

The Texas market is still highly competitive. I think it’s probably my best bet for fair prices.
I looked at the recommendation of a friend who just got his wife some suv and they delivered it from Texas to CenLa. However, that limits the test driving and this was a new vehicle. However, I looked at tons of used trucks on sites from all over Texas. It is just so big and so many people, they are bound to have more used/new vehicles, and likely cheaper, than in La.
IF you are going new, or find a similar used one locally, you might can use the Tx price to negotiate.

What dealer? I have a 19 High Country Silverado with 23K miles on it I’m trying to sell.

I found mine on car gurus. Granted I bought it on March 12, 2020 and Covid started shutting the country down on March 13, 2020.
I got it with 25,000 miles, hemi V8, 4x4, and pretty much every interior option except for heated seat/steering wheel and a few others I didn’t give a shite about. Paid $27,000. Got offered $34,000 from the same dealership a year later but I love my truck and definitely can’t afford a new one.

Beware the sight unseen Texas market. Rumors are prior flooded vehicles are being sold as well.

Not a truck, but this past May I bought a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe with 32K miles for $22K. A few weeks ago I saw the salesman who sold me the car at a deli and he asked me if I wanted to sell the car. He said they would pay me $25K for it.
But I think they had my car mispriced lower than it should have been when I bought it. They had another 2020 Santa Fe, same price as mine, exactly like mine with similar mileage but a different color. A family member liked my car and I told him about the other one they had and he went and looked at it 3 days after I bought and they wanted $26k for it.
When I talked to the salesman the other day I commented to him that when I pass the dealership it looks like the used car portion of the lot has a lot more cars than it had the last few months. He said that the dealership management told all the employees to park in the rear portion of the used car area instead of the employee lot in the rear of the dealership. That way to passerby it looks like they have a large inventory of cars. Lol.

I have a decent truck that I’d like to sell.
What is the best route to get a good price?

I thought about going trade in my 2020 Sierra for a new 2500 but frick those prices
I traded my 2020 Sierra in on a 2021 Silverado 2500 6.6 gas LT. Truck stickered for 53K. I had a $1000 rebate from Costco and GM reseller coupon for another 5% off. They gave me 49,500 for my Sierra. Only paid $200 in tax since trade value was close to new.
The new 6.6 gas is great. I get around 14 MPG around town and can get 18 on interstate. Pulled a 30 FT camper a few weeks ago and got 11 MPG pulling it.
The 2500 GM gas burners are the best deal right now. Mine has the 6 speed tranny. The 2022 are supposed to have the Allison 10 speed in the higher trim levels.

I was doing a daily search on Cargurus when I found a used 19 F150 for right at $33k. Find a model that you like, set the distance from you on the site, truck mileage and price and just go through the dozens of pages. There's a few diamonds in the rough that are available that may warrant a drive

I’m holding off on purchasing as long as possible. It may frick me it may not but going to find out. Hoping once the dealerships catch up the prices will drop.
There are so many people waiting it will take years for supply to outpace demand, once vehicles are available. It will be a long time before dealerships will need to drop price to sell a vehicle, if ever.

Mines holding up good. Knock on wood. I don’t haul much and only been off-roading once so I haven’t abused it much except to put 50,000 miles on it in 2 years and the occasional triple digit promoter reading

Good to know. I’m looking for used in the $22k range. Most have 100k miles in that price range.
