Not trying to be an arse but couldn't someone just walk out there without waders? Is a boat and/or waders necessary I guess is what I'm asking.
I was thinking the same thing. Swim out there. Fire it up and drive that sucker up on the bank. Tie it off so it won't float away.

Why not just swim out there?
Fuk, white ppl have to make everything complicated.

Highway 34 is closed. Going to be tough to get down there coming from i20. Best of luck, wish I had a boat or yak so I could help. I'll go down there and swim to the boat if they want

I would swim, but I would not ask my wife or mother to swim, hopefully offshore trash can save the day

That's what I was implying without trying to be a jerk about it. I wouldn't expect MomPox to do it, but just asking.

Email sent. I'll go down there and swim

She said she text my dad and he said not to worry about it. She's gonna be stubborn as heck over it. Thanks for the help guys. Maybe I will still be able to talk to her into it.

The water looks to have little or not current. Swimming shouldn't be an issue, and it definitely isn't an issue if you use a life jacket as well.
Bring rope and a life jacket if you go.

I have family on caney so I may be heading there anyway

I wouldn't go with waders .. not knowing how deep it is there (maybe not at all) one slip and those waders fill with water, if it's deep that's gonna be a problem. Guy here was fishing and had waders on .. fell out of the boat and yeah, well he drowned. Just on a normal day.
I'm a mom ... sorry for being overly cautious! I'd hate to see any good hearted souls get hurt while trying to do a good deed!

You send someone over there to save that damn boat, my parents would be acting the same way not wanting to put anyone out of their way. Don't listen to them!

Tell your dad that he is depriving joy from others being able to lend a small helping hand. We value beer, boats, and beer.

I'm pretty sure this wader myth has been busted many times, hasn't it?

All I know is someone near us died while fishing ... according to reports (yes could be wrong) he had waders on and fell out of the boat and couldn't get them off. Again, I'm a girl ... not allowed to go fishing with my husband and boys as I "never want to stay long enough". lol

Not just the boat, the boathouse can't resist that much uplift once the boat starts pushing on the roof. Also, if that thing comes loose it could end up being a problem for someone else. If someone's willing to get the boat let them and thank them profusely.

ETA: It's probably as much of a man thing because he isn't home and can't do it himself.

quote:This! Don't even try to tell him to swallow his pride. It'll take all of 20 minutes to move once someone gets there and will potentially save your family thousands of dollars. Not to mention the headache of going thru getting the dock's roof redone and whatever damage the boat accrues. It is literally as simple as swimming out there, untying it and either swimming it back in/driving it. Tie it up to a tree in the yard and wait till the water starts falling.
