Bought a 2012 the other day. Drives like a beast. The wife wanted it to replace her van but after driving it she may end up taking my Highlander and I’ll drive the Sequoia. It has the smaller V8 and is RWD but feels solid. Anything I need to know or look for? Only had 80k miles and drives like a new truck.

Needed more seats than my Jeep had and bought it thinking ahead to my daughter turning 16 in a few years. Should get her through college.

Know a guy whose wife drove one. He said it ate brakes! But who knows, it could’ve been his wife’s driving.

Solid, long in the tooth, gas mileage sucks, especially with the 4.6L. I'd be fine with them if they were cheaper to reflect the older technology. A Sequoia comparable to the Aspen I picked up for towing was 3X the price, the value just isn't there.

My uncle is still driving his first gen (I think like 2003-2004?). Has >350k miles, chugs gas, but routine maintenance and it is still going.

I have a 2012 that I bought new. Has 130k miles

On the 3 set of tires and 2 set of breaks. Other than that just oil changes. Need to change the spark plugs before long.

Mine is a 4wd and has the big engine

One issue that I did have with mine is the motor for the back gate lift went out. That’s about it though.

The Chrysler? You might find yourself in the shop a lot. Maybe not. Really hit or miss, though.

We replaced my wife’s Odyssey with a 2013 Armada in February of 2019, and it has been wonderful. Platinum with 54k miles, 2nd row buckets, factory headrest DVD, and immaculate dealer service records. Was traded in for another Armada. This is always the BEST of signs on any used vehicle purchase. We were looking for a 2015, but for $23k, it was a steal. As long as what we got was based on the Titan truck and not the new unibody version, we were fine with it. Wouldn’t change anything 20k miles later.

Like an AK for SUVs.

Gas guzzler.

Run forever.

Can be hard on front tires. Balls joints, tie rods, etc as it's heavy and can be hard on front end (albeit after a ton of miles).

You'll see the front tires wear funny potentially indicating some work needed. Nothing major wrong besides wear items.

Great vehicle.

Wife had one we got in 2011. 115k problem free miles. Only negatives are gas mileage if it matters and the outdated tec but it’s 9 years old.

I will say it has one of the best turning radius is of any truck or SUV I have ever driven. Very easy to park.

Sequoia is a great financial decision, if that exists in the car depreciation world. Value will barely drop, and you will get 300K miles out of it. If you are not vain, drive it till the wheels fall off, and pocket the car note that you don’t have.

Thanks. That’s sort of what we’re thinking with it long term. I’ll have the other car paid off after I sell the van and will have this one paid off in a couple of years. Figured it was better to sell the van with it still holding some value and not end up buying two cars in a few years when my daughter starts driving. I can already see it happening, but she will take the Highlander, I’ll end up driving the Sequoia, and the wife will get something else then. One reason we’ve become a Toyota family is how much you get out of them. We’ve just never had any of the larger trucks or SUVs.

I have an '08 with the 5.7. Reliable as La sales tax. Change the oil and drive on. Tows a 20' Whaler like it's not there.

Talk about sucking gas. Rented one once. Had to stop in Lafayette to refuel en route from Houston to New Orleans.

Somehow missed this the other day, but it has been very easy to park for something as large as it is. I am missing the backup camera, I had gotten used to that. Not as much for parking, but backing out of spaces, there are some blind spots. I may add one to it if I can.
