Thinking of getting one for trips where we need waterproof bed storage. But, I do not want it on there 24/7. So in order of importance, I am looking for:
1. Ease of removal, or one that maybe folds or rolls and doesn't interfere with cargo like kayaks.
2. Price - cheap is fine
3. Waterproofiness
4. Looks

if you want waterproofness, eliminate all the folding and rolling options.

get the cheap light fiberglass that goes over lips of the bed and tailgate.

Tyger soft cover is an excellent choice.

No bed cover is advertised to be water proof to my knowledge.

Not 100% waterproof, but I have the Undercover Flex and like it. They all leak some.

The best I have had so far is Retrax. As was said none are waterproof but I like that this one is solid, can be locked at any position, and doesn’t take up a lot of bed space for the canister. Also the one I got is made of powder coated aluminum and you can open and close the tailgate with it closed.

Yes, try and get big plastic totes at Home Depot for smaller pieces. Most leakage is at the rear of the bed, around tailgate so push the cargo forward if possible. The covers that wrap around the bed tend to leak less than the tri-fold hard covers or roll covers.

I have the truxedo Toneau cover on my F150 and for the past 6 years it has been great. It has kept my bed dry and I like the ability to roll it up to allow for transporting larger items in the back of my truck. I put weather stripping down and that is what helps ensure the truck bed stays dry.

It’s not cheap, but I’ve got a diamond back cover, it doesn’t leak and only takes about 10 minutes to remove.

I have a Tyger soft cover tri fold. Think I paid 250 for it. Have had it about a year and it’s never leaked and still looks new.

Rollbak X2 is my favorite. I'd call it 98% Waterproof. It tends to let in a little bit of water at the tailgate, but you're good everywhere else.

I have the Bakflip MX4 on my F150 and have zero complaints. Nothing in the bed of the truck gets wet in a storm or when going thru a car wash.

I had an Undercover on my Ranger, absolutely had no problem keeping stuff dry. The factory gas shocks aren't great, I put new ones on about a year after getting the cover and they helped cinch down the cover. Also have to dial in the locking tabs, slight compression fit is a must to get the gasket to seal. I'd throw luggage and tools, drive 15 hours straight from PA to AL in nearly constant rain, and nothing got wet. Every roll or flip cover system my friends have had would leak some though. Main draw back is hauling anything taller than the depth of the bed, I'd mostly rest the toneau down on whatever it was then tie a bungee from the cover pulldown loop to the back bumper or towing reveiver. Sometimes you just have to remove it, not terribly difficult for one person as long as your back and shoulders are healthy.

I have had several different covers for trucks over the years and Retrax is the best I have ever had. They aren't cheap but very little moisture intrusion, easy to adjust, doesn't take up alot of bed space, and looks great.
