The topics are popping up-it's time. Tie on your red traps and chatters and let's get this going. I plan on going way more this year than the prior two. I want at least one trap trip then a few perch on the bank ones.

So what are the rules/regs for waterfowl hunting on Toledo Bend?

Are there any?

Never been, always wanted to. You say bank fishing, if I don't bring a boat, is there still some spots to do some perch jerkin and relax at one of those Airbnb's? Would love to take my 4 year old this spring.

Make sure you turn off that livescope that you want outlawed on public waters.

All I have ever seen are:

quote:

26.3 Waterfowl hunting, in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws and all Public
Hunting Lands requirements, is permitted on the Reservoir surface. Refer to the North
Toledo Bend Wildlife Management Area (WMA) section of the Texas Parks and Wildlife
Department Hunting Map Bulletin.

26.4 No fixed or stationary hunting blinds may be placed or constructed on the Reservoir. All
hunting blinds are subject to the rules and regulations of the Texas Parks and Wildlife
Department (TPWD) Public Hunting Lands Program. Any hunting blind not in compliance
with the TPWD Public Hunting Lands Program are subject to removal and/or destruction.

No hunting from the bank unless you own it, lease it or have permission. No permanent blinds. Stay on/in the water in a boat blind or wading and be at least 100 yards from any house or camp.

1992-2003 when the lake was covered in grass, B+ and always steady.

Last 15-20 years... D-, but can still kill a few when the weather gets right.

It’s the best kept secret in Louisiana and Texas

Hunt close to the dam with 80 foot decoy strings in the open water. Place them in a j pattern Don’t tell anyone else

Water is super low. Maybe this rain will bring it up to 170+ for a while. White perch in the button willows soon!

There are some Air BnB on the lake that you can catch crappie off of the dock and not need a boat. One in particular in turtle beach has been unreal the past few years.
