They are the most common bird, easiest bird to decoy next to a teal, will fall all over a mojo and i've cleaned my share that were full of minnows.

You have dogris(scaup) but not ring neck? Or are you calling black duck ring neck?

I think you missed what I was saying. I prefer shooting mallards over any other duck. I don't think I have ever cleaned a mallard that had minnows in it.

Duck flavors depend on where you are hunting. I can kill dogris in a freshwater pond that you wouldn't be able to tell from a teal. Shoot them in the salt marsh and just as soon eat a presidential goose!

Edited since chicken now has been to this board.

Grey duck, easily IMO. (not counting spoons)

I hunt the marsh, when the water blows out of those ponds and strands the minnows they are easy pickings. A duck is like a chicken, they'll eat anything.

Its the only species that offers a challenge when targeting flight ducks. Where I hunt we don't kill many ducks that are living in our ponds. We try to kill ducks that most don't even call to. When you look high into the sky and can see nothing but wing flashes those are the ducks we try to kill. If you ever brak a group of 40-50 from 3000 ft. they will finish all the way to the dekes.

This man is correct.

Ive eaten plenty of spoons.... U get a bad one, and u will quit. Forever.

Considering the fact that I am only 27, I would like to think I don't fall into this category, but I respect my elders. Let it roll.
